You capture humanity. Is the woman sad? Has she had a spat with the man looking at her? Is she annoyed with him, a stranger, for staring at her? Her arms are in 'defensive' position. What happens next?
Sam, do you have to get permission to post photos of people? If so, will you tell us how you approach them?
Thanks.
Posted by Tom at April 15, 2012 03:04 AMI like the repeating red lines. This picture emanates a feeling of tristess. People on their way to some place, not looking happy or amused.
Posted by tom at April 15, 2012 07:52 AMA great shot showing how one can walk the length of the train (usually 6 or 8 cars) without opening and closing heavy doors.
You have also captured a rather funny scene here. She is pissed off because he is staring at her, and the guy asleep is missing all the intrigue. Yuk-Yuk!
This is a terrific photo Sam ....... but tell me......... were you standing on one of the new seats??!! ( ;) tee hee )
Hi Sam,
nice seeing you featured on bTO today. Actually reading that interview made me appreciate your images to a greater extent, where before I was merely overly-critical (probably due to some inferiority complex, hah!) -- keep at it.

Posted by molly at April 16, 2012 07:55 AMI was just on one of those recently for the first time! Cool! Toronto is slowly getting better & better!
Posted by Sheila Gregory at April 17, 2012 11:23 AMSam, I have the same Q. posted above "...Do you have to get permission to post photos of people? If so, will you tell us how you approach them?"
Also, do you ask permission of people before you photograph them. I recently was sitting in a restaurant waiting for the food to be served, framing shots with my camera, and snapping a few, when I man I'd aimed my cam at suddenly got up, walked over to my table, shook his finger in my face, and angrily said something like "I want you to stop taking pictures of me!" So I'd like to know: do you always ask first? only if you know that they'll see you taking the photo, or ...?. Maybe I should email you.
Posted by Katharine at April 22, 2012 02:32 AMA new car and already trash on the floor of the car, or is it? What's that on the left next to the light blue line, money? And no one notices it, now that's strange. I like this one alot.
