Comments: animals and building

The maganta in the overall image gives me a nice feeling of a "different" kind of architecture shot ;) Well done !

This has such a surreal feel to it. Love the composition, the intense sky, and the contrast between it and the building.

Interesting sculptures and the building is great. Nice lines and composition. Well done, Sam!

This image, as is on screen, is so dark to me with a black sky (with monitor brightness at maximum) that I copied it and auto enhanced it 4 times to brighten it to where it looked natural and full of detail.

Looks really good when I can see it.

If you darkened it intentionally I don't like it, not that you don't have the right to do as you like, it just seems way off to me, as a number of images lately.

interesting shot, nice perspective although the shadow ruins it a little. i think i was planning to post a photo of this building tomorrow.

This is one of the only photos of yours which I definitely do not like. The framing, although presumably done to capture the animals rather than the building, is very displeasing to my eye. It seems like the photo is trying to be of both animals and building, but achieves neither particularly well. Sorry. Keep up the otherwise astounding work, though.

Hey! I know that spot. I took pictures there recently, while sitting on one of those... what ARE they?!

Another nice picture.

Great POV. Love that :)

Those are sculptures of donkeys. They make up a scene from Pinocchio.

Well you certainly struck a chord with me today.

I check in here almost every day and today you hit on my old "home" - Metro Hall. As a former Metro (City) employee, I watched as this building took shape. I was eventually recruited from the Metro Parks Department. (Island Division, btw, when are you going to post some Island images of my other old "home"?) I was recruited to Metro Hall to run the Corporate Mail Service for the City. Our group (The Facilities Management Division) was the very first batch of folks to take up "residence" in this building - a momentous occasion with Art Coles, (Director of FM) at the helm. I will always remember him walking me over to the construction site and asking me how I liked our new pink building.

The statues of the lambs is near & dear to the heart of my daughter (now 16 yrs old) who was one of the first 3 or 4 children enrolled at the Metro Hall Daycare situated directly behind these statues. I probably have some images of her sitting on one of the lambs. Thank you Mary Gallo, Supervisor of the daycare. You were wonderful. I often wonder about the other children that went there - the kids of my many colleagues that worked in the building. They would all be 16 or 17 years old now. The last time I saw them, they were about 2 or 3 years old. I would love to see how they have grown.

Thank you for your wonderful web site. I am a Toronto native with a family tree traced back to the 1850s in the Toronto area. You cannot imagine how important these images are of

MY TOWN

Cheers!

As usual, Hugh Petrie is afraid of dark entities. This time it's Sam's picture. Usually it's people whose skin is any "darker" than his.

It looks like that building needs to be 'Tetris-ed'.

Hugh,

GET A NEW MONITOR.

I can't tell you how many countless times you have said an image is dark and you cannot make out the details. It's not a problem for anyone but you. Your monitor is old and shot. Get a new one and you'll be amazed what these images look like!

Sam, very nice work, love the shadow on the building and the ominous sky above. The dark sky was intentional and I really like it.

Hugh, I think you'd better get your monitor fixed (or at least calibrate it).

The exposure is perfect.

Are you sure that you can see all of the gradation steps in the test pattern at the top of the page?

Wow, I just love Toronto, nice pic! I miss To, I'm overdue for a visit. :)

Doing some research I discovered comments regarding my fear of dark entities - a load of crap - especially the racist comment that usually it's people with skin darker than mine. You make stupid conclusions, whoever you are "K". You do not know who I am an who I have associated with.

As to comments by Chad & Brad on my monitor being shot, only some of Sam's images are too dark and most images I view on the web or sent to me by others are perfect. So whomever thinks my monitor is that far off is cockeyed. I likely will get a new monitor some time but I doubt what I see of Sam's images as too dark will be much different unless I washout everything else. And some of the images I find dark may be that way intentionally - as I've questioned. I also find that some people view washed out images as normal. There's really no consensus. It comes down to personal preference.

I'm entering this note more for Sam as it is somewhat far back in time at this point. I am quite ticked off at the ignorance of "K" and the inslulting manner. People with no response possible save like this. No face.
