you take beautiful pictures. 'nuff said.
Posted by Andy at May 7, 2006 04:04 AMGreat grim vibes off those buildings in both shots but the looking up to the sky and the freedom of the bird makes for a powerful message. Impressive stuff.
Posted by AG at May 7, 2006 04:09 AMi prefer this to the other angle
nice work
So how long did you have to wait for a bird to fly past this time? ;)
Posted by vg at May 7, 2006 06:48 AMIn my country,millions of people doing their
"Looking up"job as[daily dose of imagery];
They are watching their racing pigeons.
Sam,you are so lucky!
Awsome image. I'm frightened, though - what *is* that in the sky??
Posted by Mike at May 7, 2006 10:22 AMThis is a very interesting building. It looks very much in need of rehabilitation, or demolition. Great angle on both shots.
Posted by Laurie at May 7, 2006 10:23 AMoh my god! now that's what I call toronto; be-utiful
Posted by cc omadagain at May 7, 2006 10:24 AMps; someone remarked on my earlier comment about documenting toronto that the site features art and not documentation, and so could cover any location; well, i don't think there's a necessary difference - i think the best art is often documentation, it provides a narrative for something ... a place, person, event etc. this blog does exactly that;
Posted by cc omadagain at May 7, 2006 10:30 AMSure is a cruddy mess. Pigeon's nesting in the window are hardly visible but you got it.
What puzzles me is the bright spot of cloud behind the bird in the sky. If you haven't diddled the image with Photoshop I'm not sure you shouldn't tone that spot down a bit. I find it distracting.
Now what really gets me is how dirty the place is - but then humans make a big mess in the world too, so the birds are not alone. I feel it unfair how pigeons take so much blame.
Posted by Hugh Petrie at May 7, 2006 10:52 AMIs that a stitched image? And what is it in the sky?
Posted by Pavel at May 7, 2006 11:35 AMIs it just me, or is that a Half-Life logo on the rusted wall?
Posted by charlie at May 7, 2006 12:01 PMVery sweet pic. I love the angle, the building itself, and especially the little peace symbol scratched on the wall!
Posted by Mike at May 7, 2006 12:14 PMThat is a WONDERFUL photo. Thanks so much for taking such great pictures for us all to enjoy!
Posted by caroline at May 7, 2006 01:38 PMLove that bird, an added bonus!
Posted by micki at May 7, 2006 03:02 PMUh oh, another flying poop vessel about to attack. Must have needed lots of lens cleaner for these shots. I like the Jackson Pollock-like artsiness of the white paint splatter on the wall to the left.
... oh wait, is that paint splatter, or something else related to the pigeons?
Hmmmmm...
Posted by Kam at May 7, 2006 06:06 PMI'm wondering how long you waited until that bird took flight...
Wonderful textures - even if some of it is poop-texture.
=o]
Posted by Vivi at May 7, 2006 07:44 PMis it rhe same bird?
Posted by tee at May 7, 2006 09:46 PMI love it! nice job...
Posted by Niusha at May 8, 2006 12:03 AMTry to rotate your photo clockwise which you posted at April 17,2006.You will see a very interesting picture like Rene Magritte's painting.
By the way,I don't understand why the shadow of pigeon over there?Is another one?
Posted by Harlequinpan at May 8, 2006 01:02 AMI took a bunch of photos near here recently. I generally triy to avoid standing under flying pigeons.
Posted by brian at May 8, 2006 10:04 AMNiece colours
Posted by Manuel at May 8, 2006 01:34 PMYou must have been moving kind of quick to take one shot and turn for another shot without the bird getting too far off. The bird looks pretty weird in this one. How'd it end up looking like that? Great shot though.
Posted by Nate at May 9, 2006 10:15 AMAwesome.
Posted by Joana at May 12, 2006 02:51 PMi like the peace symbol to the right of the window :)
Posted by Traci at May 12, 2006 04:16 PMI particularly like the lighting in this shot - and the brick and metal - such a great urban decay feel!
