Great craftsmanship! =D Its not just the sides, look at the threshold! Just as crooked...
Posted by Spyder at March 29, 2006 11:28 AMPerfect as always. BTW, were you satisfied with Canon 350D default lenz (EF 18-55)? DO you think it's useful for beginers?
Posted by Mohammadreza at March 29, 2006 11:31 AMnot everbody will be able to go through the door ;)
Posted by M4gic at March 29, 2006 11:57 AMoutstanding! colors, texture... great shot.
Posted by lawrence at March 29, 2006 12:31 PMNow that image epitomizes what I've been observing in many of the Oxford images you and your friend Kam in Oxford have been showing. The sense of decay and decrepitousness in the buildings. But the color of the door is gorgeous. How it has been shaped too look that way and work we'd have to open the door to know.
And all the wires added to the building that was likely there before wires were needed, so they all get stuck on like a vine growing around the house.
Another Sam scene - great!
Posted by Hugh Petrie at March 29, 2006 12:34 PMWell spoted Sam. There are loads of old places like that here, I really should take more notice. Don't like the brown much though, maybe better in b&w.
Posted by Mark Ellis. UK at March 29, 2006 12:51 PMIt's a bit bent, isn't it? I wonder who lives inside... :D
Posted by kikko77 at March 29, 2006 01:04 PMWhat a weird door! good observation.
Posted by phoric at March 29, 2006 03:10 PMYet another outstanding capture, Sam.
You rock!
Keep it up!
Best regards,

Wow! I don't think wood planing and shimming will fix this one! :o)
Posted by Dave MacIntyre at March 29, 2006 03:40 PMReally nice. Beautiful brown. Somehow we don't see images with a lot of brown so often. Nice photo.
Posted by Tom from (Lucerne Times) at March 29, 2006 04:08 PMvery funny pic i wonder if i accualy can open
Posted by Blake at March 29, 2006 04:24 PMPerhaps the carpenter had a warped sense of humour. Very fun observation, Sam! Thanks!
Posted by Kathy at March 29, 2006 04:33 PMHey! It's my house and I live here. My house is a very very very fine house with two cats in the yard. Life used to be so hard.
Posted by Kevin at March 29, 2006 05:43 PMYou certainly can paint an old house, but this wouldn't necessarily make it new. Sam has the proof. Cool
Posted by Moussa at March 29, 2006 06:30 PMThe carpenters and electricians are up in arms right now over this shot! The photographers are green with envy that you found this first. Great shot. Nice balance with all the white.

Posted by Daniel Pape at March 29, 2006 08:24 PMIt seems every time you post an Oxford england shot it rains the next day here in Toronto. PLEASE STOP THESE SHOTS! More T.O.
Posted by Steve at March 29, 2006 10:34 PMThis is the same wiring the schools have in them. Here in Ohio, that is. The walls are all painted white and they painted right over the wires, too.
They just poke out of the wall and are tacked or stapled up everywhere. It amazes me that anything works.
Posted by Peruby at March 29, 2006 10:39 PMIt's odd, but this has such a warm and welcoming feel to it. Not sure why.
Posted by micki at March 29, 2006 11:08 PMnot so much the color, but very Tim Burton-esque; shape and all.
Posted by marigold at March 30, 2006 12:18 AMWhen I first saw this photo, I thought that you had a really serious lens distortion problem!
Posted by john at March 30, 2006 07:31 AMHey,
It's England. It's raining 365 days a year, it's damp, it's cold and doors and door frames are wood. What do you expect? They change particularly when they get old.
As a matter of fact, english people and authorities do not like new things. So, they KEEP the 'Original Features' including doors, door frames, window frames, fireplaces, stone walls, timber works, walls, tables, sinks, lights, ceiling beams, roofs.....
So, Do not forget that your house sells better if you keep the 'Original Features' and not renew them while refurbishing it!!!!!
And Sam, you are always surprising us with your collection no matter when they were taken. I think you do have many good reasons now to come back to england and shoot a handful of good pictures, hopefuly not only of Oxford this time ;^)
Posted by Payam Nikdast at March 30, 2006 07:37 AMThis was a fun one to scroll down on. Such great color here. Looks like you got the white balance just right, too.
Posted by Abe at April 1, 2006 12:46 AMI love yuor site and come back to check regularly.

ummmm yeah. Not so perfect. Nice find again, Sam. They sure got a bunch of wires above the door. Nice shot for texture.
Posted by Nate at April 4, 2006 02:08 PMI like all the threads of wires at the top too.
