that person looks naked
Posted by tee at February 3, 2006 02:39 AMHey Sam.....you have me in your spell with this one! I am always a sucker for a big sky....great shot lots of mood with interest at both ends. Great stuff.
Phil
So beautiful. An admiring good Photo.
Posted by Chadie at February 3, 2006 03:35 AMCrikey! I'm amazed you managed to cram so much into this picture.
Posted by garyx at February 3, 2006 03:55 AMgreat great great. wish the person would stand a bit more central or even lay on the grass but the fate of the photographer is that he cannot form the world the way he wants to picture it :)

Posted by Victor at February 3, 2006 05:47 AMWow - Very cool minimalistic photo. A bit of a shame with the halo around the two trees.
Posted by Martin at February 3, 2006 07:14 AMIm sure this photo would look great in poster form! Otherwise, scrolling down and finding "nothing" just makes it seem a little weird
Posted by Hitesh Sawlani (hitkaiser) at February 3, 2006 07:22 AMHey Sam.... great use of contract and I like the resolution of it too.
I would sure hate to be the person in that balloon... Eek... As for the picture. Great set up. I love the size.
The black and white makes the scene more effective/dramatic.
As always, beautiful work!
From what I learned from your lecture, you probably waited awhile for that airballon to come by:) It is all grey in England and same with Toronto too...come back snow!
Posted by NoLabels at February 3, 2006 08:06 AMvery nice B&W shot.
best wishes for you, Sam.
Holy Donuts!
For an instant I am left wondering where the heck in Toronto IS this ???
Oxford eh? The person in the bottom right looks attired for a spot of cricket.
Posted by HiMY SYeD [www.Photopia.TYO.ca] at February 3, 2006 08:47 AMI love it! Good job Sam...
Posted by niusha at February 3, 2006 09:05 AMThis is really nice. Really cool clouds. What is that in the sky?
Posted by Roger at February 3, 2006 09:22 AMThe clouds are very moody looking. Not the sort of sky to be out in a baloon!
Posted by Richard Clafton at February 3, 2006 09:42 AMGreat shot. I like the contrasts, and the diagonal between the person, trees, and montgolfier. Great work.
Posted by Jips at February 3, 2006 09:47 AMSuperb sky and black and white conversion
Posted by Rob at February 3, 2006 10:11 AMWow! Nice tones. Just a doubt was this a single wide angle shot, or multiple spliced photos?
Posted by Cygnus at February 3, 2006 11:02 AMIf I was in that balloon I think I'd be starting to get worried.. that's some bad looking sky...
Posted by Sean Galbraith at February 3, 2006 11:49 AMGood looking shot, although I notice a hint of vertical lines in the dark area of the clouds.
Posted by Arthur at February 3, 2006 01:45 PMIf you look closely, this person looks like he/she's got their thumb up in the air to hitch-hike. Maybe thinking the balloon will come down and pick him up. Excllent capture!

I love all of your photos, and this one took my breath away. It's pretty tall, how did you manage that?
Posted by Emi at February 3, 2006 03:32 PMGood evening Sam.
You made the right choice by puting this picture in sepia tonality. Your sky is well contrasted. Besides, the framing is more than excellent : perfect. Great job, congratulations.
this one really speaks to me!
I love the space & depth in it!!
Did you have any other zoom lenses to check to see if it was a man or woman? That would have been interesting to find out.
Posted by San Diego Wedding Photorapherg at February 3, 2006 05:36 PMMy guess is it's a cricket player! Very terrific shot.
Also so interesting to hear about your talk and finally catch a little glimpse of you!
Congratulations on your pictures and the recognition you are being shown.
Posted by linz at February 3, 2006 08:12 PMWOW..!
Posted by H at February 3, 2006 08:41 PMwaiting for that element to creep in really works like you said and how u show here. this one's amazing because its rare a hot-air balloon would appear.
Posted by dave at February 4, 2006 01:03 AMYou made those trees look so tiny. Love the dark spots in the clouds.
Posted by noushin at February 4, 2006 02:25 AMvery good composition and processing.. very minimalistic, somethin i like! ;p
Posted by jxiong at February 4, 2006 08:57 AMThe land level shot evokes the field in "Blow-up"(the 70's film classic)where the body "was".
Posted by Kate at February 4, 2006 03:10 PMThat wide angle is amazing. Great shot. I think the person in the background is a man.
Posted by Abe at February 4, 2006 04:56 PMThis is coming in a few days late but i must say i really like the mood of this picture - one lone ballon challenging the darkened sky...
Posted by PlasticTV at February 6, 2006 10:36 PMNice pair of subjects here. Good choice for B&W on this one. Makes the clouds great.
Posted by Nate at February 8, 2006 09:08 AMFantastic mood it gives me. Love the huge sky, small subject photos. Always, nice art, Sam.
Posted by Tommy at February 9, 2006 09:57 PMWOW.
