The summer skies are beautiful subjects for photography aren't they? Nice capture. The orange tinge between the blue clouds looks great.
Posted by Srijith at July 5, 2005 01:52 AMYes, those are the NY towers, right in front of Bayview Village. Great pic!
Posted by rz at July 5, 2005 02:03 AMLooks like you simply narrowed the levels on this one to increase contrast. But it's boring, and rather uninspiring (unlike most of your other photos). Also, a strong vignetting, maybe emphasized by editing?
Posted by jonny at July 5, 2005 02:59 AMEveryday the very first thing I do at work is checking out ur photoblog to have a wonderful background on my desk top. Thank u very much for decorating my computer . BY the way , this one is absolutely beautiful .
Posted by fereydoon at July 5, 2005 04:09 AMJust a couple of days ago I realized that you made me notice the sky and the clouds over my head again. I grew to think that when living in a city you are bound to miss the sky altogether, both at night and during the day. But now, thanks to your gorgeous shots of clouds, I look up to take in the sky more and more often while walking the streets of my town. Thanks, Sam.
Posted by Susie at July 5, 2005 04:33 AMI like this photo quite a bit, relative to some of your work as of late.
Posted by Kyle at July 5, 2005 05:12 AMThis reminds me of painting watercolour skies, the way the paper 'cockles' and wrinkles when wet.
Posted by Paul Hullock at July 5, 2005 05:48 AMNope u are not mistaken. I pass by that area all the time. Too bad u didn't get any pics of all the trees that were torn down along Ellesmere and Bayview. :-)

Posted by keels at July 5, 2005 08:11 AMThe light in the clouds is very nice.

Posted by rob at July 5, 2005 08:29 AMsam: you ever think of writing up a beginner's photography tutorial of introductions about terminology, dof, etc. with some hint about the intentions in your own photography? yeah, sure--there are lots out there but yours is a style that not only i admire but that i happen to model my own amateur work after, most. beautiful sky!! thanks for your daily gifts~
Posted by dogstone at July 5, 2005 08:43 AMhey man this is a great one. i love the subtle colour in the tops of the towers. very cool.
Posted by kyle at July 5, 2005 09:27 AMI like the low horizon on this...
Posted by Robert at July 5, 2005 10:17 AMI think by "NY" he means 'North York', not "New York"...although those new condos are designed in the 1930s art-deco skyscrapper style similar to the Chrystler Building in New York so who knows. BTW Nice pic. :)
Posted by David at July 5, 2005 10:18 AMBeautiful sky :)
Posted by Fernando Amaral at July 5, 2005 11:52 AMnot bad, but not one of my favourites. i'm not a big fan of clouds, unless they are really something special, which i don't find it here. from technical point of view, i think the image has too much contrast and saturation.
anyways...it's still ok. yesterday's photo was also a good one.
I just think it's cool to see the sky lit up and the city in darkness... with the exception the lights atop those towers.
I agree the sky isn't amazing, but just thinking about the brightness up there and the darkness nio the ground is pretty cool.

Posted by Justin at July 5, 2005 12:23 PMI really like this picture!!! Seemes like someone took a piece of cloth and wipped a very smoked up window clean to expose a very beautiful sky behind it!
Those are indeed New York towers at Bayview and Sheppard
Posted by Emanuel at July 5, 2005 08:03 PMTurquoise clouds - yes - if hard to believe. Can’t say I’ve ever seen this colour so profound in a sky before. But I like the mood and if it was darkened at the bottom and corners intentionally that also increases the effect I think. Not everyone’s piece of cake but I love clouds as my site index page might suggest, and this is fine. The towers just add a down to earth touch.
Posted by Hugh Petrie at July 5, 2005 08:07 PMBeautiful sky :)
Posted by Ayan at July 5, 2005 09:15 PMYour excessive demystification through the usual torrent of toponyms in your blurbs ruins yet another photograph for me.
What a lovely, imposing sky against the stately tall structures. Nice shot!
Posted by Abe at July 6, 2005 01:01 AMat first glance, i thought that this was lovely but boring shot.
however, after looking at it again while listening to Air's Electric Performer.. the clouds livened..i thought i smelt rain.
the buildings are as usual, a perfect background.
i like the fact that they look minature in comparision to the vast sky and thick clouds.
I love clouds. And the towers look nice too!
Posted by Raffi at July 6, 2005 12:02 PMVERY COOL BLUE SHADES!!! GREAT SHOT ;o)
Could be used for the poster of the new BATMAN movie!
This is a brilliant shot. I like the blues i the sky. The buildings add to the beauty of the shot.
