Wonderful. The towering effect is really cool. It really instils an understanding of the impressively overtowering grandure of those buildings in Toronto.
This photo is perfection. Thanks for another great view
P.S. (You really stay up late don't you? it must have been 3 am in toronto when i saw this photo appear. You also seem to wake up really early too. When do you ever sleep??)
Posted by scott at January 27, 2005 12:40 AMLovely. I particularly enjoy the light patterns on the left, and the contrast between the rusty orange building on the right and the vibrant blue sky.
Posted by Gloria at January 27, 2005 12:58 AMNice perspective. Very crisp for no tripod. I looks like the orange building is making clouds.
Posted by Kevin at January 27, 2005 01:10 AMthat makes me dizzy
its sweet!
Posted by Bu11et at January 27, 2005 01:16 AMThose towers are sky scratchers. Nice true blue you've got there.
Posted by SlicesOfLife at January 27, 2005 03:20 AMI've been watching you for months now and this one is wonderful !
I almost feel 'giddy' just as if I was at your place, looking high to the skyscrappers !
well done !
Good composition!

I like the angle on this one. I still can't figure out exactly where you were standing. Seems like you're right outside Commerce Court. The picture is a bit tricky in that regard.
Posted by Jay at January 27, 2005 07:34 AMBrrrrrrrr... (I'm Portuguese).
Posted by Ricardo at January 27, 2005 07:39 AMThe exposure is perfect. I love steam venting out of the orange building ... looks like a little cloud trying to fit in.
Posted by Aaron at January 27, 2005 08:52 AMawesome!! you get the true sense of height in this shot
Posted by sal at January 27, 2005 09:07 AMwoooooah! makes me feel dizzy!
Posted by Rhys Baker at January 27, 2005 09:47 AMwow! great use of the vertical scroll!!! vertigo-inducing too.
Posted by mariann at January 27, 2005 09:50 AMWow, this is beautiful.
Long time watcher, first time commenter,
jyo
I really like the perspective in this shot; it makes some of the buildings look like they stretch up for miles.
I voted for you over on the bloggies. :)
Posted by sherry at January 27, 2005 11:48 AMbeen a while, love the daily pic. Having lived in t.dot for 10 years todays pic is a fond memory. Loved the big blue skies! Thanks!
Posted by Colin at January 27, 2005 12:10 PMThis image also nicely captures the sense that the buildings are alive, a cluster of beings facing each other, upright, businesslike, respectable, untouchable--but with the equally alive sky with its counterpoint swirly clouds, way above--passing by...
Reminds me of "Six Significant Landscapes":
"Rationalists, wearing square hats, looking at the floor, looking at the ceiling... they confine themselves to right angles..."
Thanks again!
wow! however would have loved to knock over those antennae off that tower up front, a little too much empty space on the top-left. But grrrrreat shot as usual!! and yeah, you picture from day before was breath-taking! Man I'd die for a perfect oppurtunity like that one, but here in India where I live (44 deg centigrade) I fear that is immpossible to get such moon shots!
Posted by Shivanand at January 27, 2005 12:21 PMI love the reflections!
Posted by Edwinek at January 27, 2005 02:08 PMNice. Makes me feel like I'm in one of those dreams where you're falling. I like the way you captured the old, cool Bank of Montreal logo, and not the ugly new BMO sign.
Posted by VK at January 27, 2005 04:23 PMIts 8:02pm, and its the first time I've been able to go online today.
Sam---this one is goddamned amazing!!! I've scrolled up and down umpteen times, and I think my mouth is still hanging open!!!
Thanks, once again!!!
I'm falling, aaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhh... I've never had a picture induce so much vertigo in my life!
No words. I've seen a lot of this pictures but this really hit me.
Posted by C.Santini at January 28, 2005 02:31 PMI voted for you on the bloggies:)
Posted by Abid at January 28, 2005 09:18 PMThat lovely blue sky doesn't hint at how cold it probably was when you took this. Really nice work with the sky and shadows on the buildings.
Posted by Michelle at January 28, 2005 09:23 PMi love that building on the right... the one going straight up the side, it reminds me of MC Escher sketches :)
Posted by ericville at January 29, 2005 12:17 PMThat's so beautiful. I looked at it in awe for a few minutes. I always do that when I walk through downtown, I stare up, and it just leaves me in awe.
Great job of capturing it.
great shot of the brodcasting towers on top First canadian place
