I like this pic... It gives that sense of loneliness, which is common during winter time of course. Great for those in a depressed mood.
Posted by Raffi at January 16, 2005 12:23 AMWow, keeping the best for last eh? This is REALLY AMAZING! This is the best one from the ice storm so far IMHO.
Posted by Lorin Halpert at January 16, 2005 12:26 AMJust beautiful. I took a few similar shots, but never posted them due to lack of focus. Your clarity is exceptional. The clouds in the background also add a nice textured effect to the shot. Terrific.
Posted by Zach at January 16, 2005 01:04 AMi love bare, winter trees... the dark black lines all twisted around against a cloudy sky-- its brilliant!
Posted by kandi cook at January 16, 2005 02:24 AMWOW! amazing contrast. wow so good
Posted by bluemonkey at January 16, 2005 03:59 AMWow - great shot - it looks like one of those scenes from a cartoon. In my head, the camera then pans to the right, moving through the tree to a haunted house on the hill.
Posted by JamesK at January 16, 2005 05:49 AMnice shot, but it doesn't like to your shot
Posted by Reza at January 16, 2005 05:53 AMDamn, Sam. What a gorgeously omimous feeling to this one!
Posted by Houser at January 16, 2005 06:53 AMoh wow, this is brilliant. any chance to get this big enough for wallpaper?
Posted by matthew at January 16, 2005 09:22 AMnever cease to amaze.
Posted by jonathan at January 16, 2005 09:50 AMYou did exactly what I thought about doing, but never got around to it. The storm, while crippling the city, left the most beautiful coating of ice on trees and farmers' fields just north of the city. It was stunning. You've captured that beauty quite handily in this shot. Nicely done.
Posted by Nancy at January 16, 2005 12:50 PMThe texture of the ice-coated branches is spectacular, and I love following the focus to a blur on that middle branch. Great shot.
Posted by matt at January 16, 2005 03:11 PMi love it! it so beautiful!:)
Posted by Aaron at January 16, 2005 03:43 PMvery nice picture of winter scence
Posted by miloo at January 16, 2005 05:21 PMwhen I saw it I was reminded of cracks in the ice and shattered glass.
I think its a good photo, but really depressing to look at. Only because of that I find I cant truly enjoy it.
Posted by scott at January 16, 2005 06:23 PMAfter maybe about a year of not having written a comment, I just passed to say you don't stop getting better.
Posted by Telli at January 17, 2005 03:46 PMraw, powerful, foreboding, moody.. love it
Posted by maree at January 18, 2005 03:19 AMwow I love the starkness of this photo. The sharp b&w really captures the frozen icy feeling well. And somehow the fragments of sky between the clouds complements the branches.
Posted by Marc at January 21, 2005 10:05 PMwow. what had happened to the sky?
