Awesome tones in the sky. I really enjoy the angle, as well. I'm impressed as always.
Posted by tanner at January 10, 2005 01:30 AMI love this -- I love the angle, the icicles, the color -- and that blue! Fantastic shot.
Posted by myla kent at January 10, 2005 01:31 AMfor a while now i’ve wanted to say what a wonderful place this is for a short STOP each day! lovely colour today.. crisp
Posted by hein at January 10, 2005 03:53 AMVery cool shot (no pun intended ;-)
Posted by djn1 at January 10, 2005 05:13 AMSuch rich colours. Did you use a flash at all? The sign and pole seem reflective.
Posted by Jerry at January 10, 2005 08:32 AMGood shot ! You made a rather mundane subject interesting by your composition. I love the blue sky. You must have precious few of those, in the "frozen north"
Posted by theDUKE at January 10, 2005 08:55 AMWe got it. Its cold as heck up there. alright already! Is there anything else frozen up there that may be more interesting to look at??? Nice color though-
Mark
great angle, and beautiful sky.
Posted by rohit at January 10, 2005 09:23 AMhaha, wow! That's awsome!
Posted by Spad at January 10, 2005 09:23 AMMan, awesome processing on this. I love the smoothness.. Also the angle is great.
Posted by miklos at January 10, 2005 10:21 AMI am very impressed with this shot. It's always great when a person can turn a pretty standard shot into a great photo. The colors are so rich and crisp! Nicely done.
Posted by Ariel at January 10, 2005 01:51 PMamazing color!
Posted by nathan at January 10, 2005 01:53 PMmediocre foto with the colors boosted waaay up.
Not to sound like an ass, but that's what it is.
This shot is intense. Craziest looking red I have ever seen. My eyes can't look away.
Posted by Krishna at January 10, 2005 04:00 PM* i'd like to see babio do any better *
Great color, as mentioned. Red/Blue contrast beautifully.
..
nice lomo shot. i always love the way lomo catches images in super-saturation color. it's almost dreamlike.
Posted by gleek at January 10, 2005 06:29 PMIm calling this one "Blue Sky for Grant"
nice photo. love the angle its like a comic book angle.
I think the sky looks quite a bit doctored as well. It stretches reality a bit far for me and makes the photo look surreal. I still like that effect as it works well with the warped angle that also adds to the surrealness.
I like but... I too sense some alterations in the works.
Posted by scott at January 10, 2005 07:25 PMi love your colors in this one
Posted by bluemonkey at January 10, 2005 07:52 PMThat has got to be THE cleanest stop sign in winter I have ever seen, and it's amazing because the "All Way" sign right below it loooks like most road signs do in winter.. It's suprising it's not covered in slush and salt, which gives it a very fictional effect, like it's taken from a play town or something.
Posted by John at January 10, 2005 07:54 PMThe colour, the angle, its just perfect. Thats a crrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrazy blue!
Posted by Raffi at January 10, 2005 08:09 PMThis looks like an advertise to stop kids from using drugs. man the pictures is so clear!
Posted by redk at January 10, 2005 08:44 PMwow. absolutely fabulous. one of my favorites.
thanks so much for sharing your photos.
robin
what an awesome shot. definitely reminds me of lachapelle. bright, vibrant colors, beautifully put together, and the ice...what a nice touch. great shot sam!
Posted by rich at January 11, 2005 01:28 AMNice
Posted by Mez at January 11, 2005 04:50 AMI would like to see how you would act in a tropical country, without snow. Seriously, try to vary, 80% of all pictures I've seen focus on snow...
Posted by Robert Chmistree at January 11, 2005 07:37 AMGreat vibrant colors. Did you use a polarizer?
Posted by andy at January 11, 2005 08:18 AMbrrrrrrrr.....colors! :-)
Posted by wushi at January 11, 2005 08:37 AMI'm with Bobio on this one - it's oversaturated and unremarkable. The crazy angle is just another way to make an uninteresting photo look "arty" and interesting. A couple cheap tricks do not make a good photo. (And in general, I really like Sam's work, but this one just isn't it.)
Posted by Hal at January 11, 2005 09:05 AMYou are taking some awesome icicle shots... very jealous from Vancouver :)
Posted by mel at January 11, 2005 02:35 PMThis is a great photo, it has a surreal Dr. Seuss quality to it. The post is well placed against the sky, the angle takes it out of the context of a city. The colors are vibrant. I love this picture.
Posted by Will at January 11, 2005 07:50 PMAnd all the whos in whoville played their tumbtumblers, bizzwibblers and Buzzwumblers...
Robert. The man has tons of summer photos. Where have you been looking? let alone the on going series of past shots from Iran and other locals.
It's winter.(in winter toronto is all about snow... its snow and ice as far as the eye can see)
Cut him some slack for staying current and not digging into ancient photos from the summer. I personally like the way all the photos are new and fresh and are a doorway into to life of Toronto.
Posted by scott at January 12, 2005 08:32 PMI love those vivid colours. Really eye-catching photo!
Posted by Paulo Ribeiro at January 13, 2005 08:23 AMwow..terrific picture. how did u get the colors so vibrant?
Posted by Dan at January 14, 2005 01:23 PMthat is some kind of color.
