I would never have considered a re-composition in Photoshop here; do you think others would have suspected you of that? (Oh, woe...)

Posted by Frank at December 30, 2004 09:28 AM

Well executed idea, your work with light is truly impresive. Thanks for the imagery.

I love the subtle light on the valve and pipe.

Posted by Ned at December 30, 2004 12:27 PM

nice concept, good eye on capturing this from the 'correct' angle.

however, i think it would be a stronger compostion if the clouds were of equal visual strength to the pipe. their softness and low contrast hints that they don't belong to the pipe.

so you admit that all of your photos here are photoshopped?

Posted by rohit at December 30, 2004 01:51 PM

Great photo with beautiful idea! I love the dark pipe and pinky cloud. Personally, I don't like to do any editing with photoshop-like tools. Wonderful shot!

anti-tech purists are funny... I can't wait until you accept the electric guitar as a legitimate musical instrument...

anyway... this is fun.

My family got a book on this sort of trick photography using single shots. It's simple in concept but does involve getting lighting right... you know, you end up with pictures where the kids are standing in your hands, etc., this is a nice example.

I think it's true that if there was a stronger light on the piping it would look more together... but no complaints mind you... it's great.
