Comments: umbrella bin

I think this is the best thing you've posted in a while. Not the most interesting of subjects, but the pattern variations, the overall composition and the weird angle make it visually appealing. Not sure it needed to be converted to b&w though. I'm sure it was probably monochromatic enough to be begin with, but whatever.. this works well enough for me.

I like this for the tones you used, and the crispness of the shot.

either that, or it's one heavy-duty umbrella holder!

Love the de-saturated colour.

Sam-
What do you find appealing about this image?

Great counterpoint of geometric shapes.

I wonder what dank and murky thing we are being kept away from by the chain-link fencing.

I wish I could hand-hold like this at 1/20th second.

Who else can find beauty in so common things? You are gifted with a high sensitiveness. I really don’t care if the background or the first plan is focused. What makes the difference is the life given to the inanimate things. You are the best… for sure!

That's weird. Today I saw one of those smaller automatic umbrellas half-open/broken upside down on top of a garbage can this morning in Vancouver.

truly inspiring. Assuming all was intentional-- Love the clash of shapes as mentioned above, love the unity of patterns- wall/bricks/floorinig/wastebasket tiles- mixed with the contrast- wire fencing. Great Tone and perfect light placement.

A favorite

andrew> actually the subway stations in toronto are often decorated with the most terrible of colours. horrible oranges mixed with terrible browns, Pea-soup green mixed with yellow and they also arent the cleanest of places. The monochrome might be hidding more than we think.

I like the photo too. For me its the clearity of this image. It is crisp and clear. Well done. Looks like you've been getting a fair share of rain back there in toronto lately. the circle and square contrast is nice too and the umbrella in the garbage is intreguing. purhaps it broken or someone forgot it in the station and another person disposed of it this way instead of a lost and found.

P.S. Sam becareful, if everyone knows youre going to be at the el mocambo, maybe youre going to get a fair share of stalkers and obsessed fans looking for you there.
