OoO pretty! i like the colors...very nice picture...

Posted by Deanna at December 3, 2004 12:58 AM

You're kidding right? ;)

Posted by behrouz at December 3, 2004 12:58 AM

Wow!...how did you get sooo much of a gold color? Use a filter? PS? or simply camera setting. Beautiful!

Posted by Ed Little, Jr. at December 3, 2004 01:07 AM

wow i've been following your site via rss (thx), this picture really kicks ass!!

Posted by daniel at December 3, 2004 02:05 AM

Beautiful sky, but i don't think you do Toronto buildings justice with the direction and building group you've chosen.

Posted by rz at December 3, 2004 02:15 AM

Sam, would you mind to share with us the original "negative" (photo as shot by the camera)? It will be very enlightening for many of us, I am sure.

Posted by dmg at December 3, 2004 02:38 AM

Awesome. I was wondering what it looked like through your window without the beautiful and colorful water droplets. Now I know and it's just as stunning, if not moreso. Thanks! :)

Posted by BrotherAli at December 3, 2004 02:38 AM

re: the previous comment "...i don't think you do Toronto buildings justice with the direction and building group you've chosen..." On the contrary, I think you've done your duty well; if you were to take the previous comment to heart, I guess you might just have to move into a new apartment...in fact, I find the central singular tower among the non-descript skyline curiously compelling, both in form and its reflective qualities; I can't quite place it, and this familiarity/unfamiliarity adds to the photo's merit. What's more, that's a really cool orange...

Posted by jmv at December 3, 2004 02:40 AM

you've got a breathtaking view =)

Posted by riff at December 3, 2004 02:57 AM

Now there is photographic proof of a black hole, you've got one in the top of the picture.

Posted by Henk Bakker at December 3, 2004 07:11 AM

This photo is wicked. The colours are amazing. Simply breathtaking. Well Done

Posted by Krishna at December 3, 2004 07:15 AM

what a great light and color of sky. The lights in the sky scrappers even add to the shot. great work!

Posted by Liisa at December 3, 2004 07:52 AM

I love when the sky lights up that color of orange after a storm. I enjoy long exposure shots like this. Good job as always.

Posted by laanba at December 3, 2004 08:06 AM

For everybody's who's asked about the "gold" color: It's most probably light pollution from all those disgusting lights. Most street-lights give off a somehwat orangish glow, and since most lights don't any shades on them, that glow ends up in the sky, or in this case, the clouds.

Of course, Toronto could be a magically light-pollution-free city and Sam just put that in in PS. :)

Posted by Hans at December 3, 2004 08:15 AM

I'm probably not the only one thinking this but would it be possible to get this in a wallpaper??

Amazing shot!

Posted by Andy J at December 3, 2004 08:56 AM

That's the view from your apartment? Hot damn...

Posted by JDiggity at December 3, 2004 09:04 AM

One of the nicest images you have made in quite a while... I think though that I would have panned the camera down a little more. Would like to see more of the city scape and less sky. The sky here is interesting, but doesn't add as much to the image as the buildings do.

Posted by Pixeldog at December 3, 2004 09:16 AM

That is stunning. And apparently you live several floors above me - the view out of my window certainly never looks like that! (although I have seen what you can do with parking lots, hehe)

Posted by Erin at December 3, 2004 09:44 AM

wow, that's dramatic as all hell :)

Posted by miles at December 3, 2004 09:59 AM

every once and a while you pull something out of the bag and i'm at awe. this is one of those times.

Posted by tbone at December 3, 2004 10:06 AM

Wooow, It's like fire in the sky

Posted by Mehran at December 3, 2004 10:18 AM

That is a great picture. I like how it appears that the clouds are moving from top left to bottom right in this frame.

Posted by Relic21 at December 3, 2004 10:19 AM

If this is your view, the RENT must be astronomical! I know a man who wanted to sell a small condo. Its only redeeming value was the fact that it sat across from a golf course. He did something similar to you; he shot a picture of the golf course through his window and ran an ad in the real estate section with the golf course photo and the headline: "For Sale" with the condo price. It seemed like such a deal, it was sold within the first week.

You could be living in Mars, three hundred years from now!

Posted by Ali at December 3, 2004 01:47 PM

thats your window huh? you lucky bastard.

Posted by joey at December 3, 2004 02:58 PM

OUCH! I burned my hand touching the sky.

Posted by Kevin at December 3, 2004 03:13 PM

hmm. Kevin, you're giving all the Kevins in the world a bad name, and I don't appreciate that. What does real estate have to do with an exceptional picture by Sam? > This had no golf course anywhere in it! And Sam isn't selling his flat. I know I'm sounding like a hypocrite, but aren't these forums for giving pointers, making suggestions, and just overall appreciating Sam's work?

Good job Sam :)

Posted by rika at December 4, 2004 12:40 AM

Wow. I agree with jvm a few comments ago. That center building is a worthy subject; and the sky is the icing on the cake.
I hope you don't mind but this is my new background.

Cheers.

A wonderfully vibrant orange. Makes me want to revisit some of my long exposure night shots to see if this color is hiding behind a curves tweak or two :)

Posted by jean-sébastien at December 9, 2004 12:53 PM

Stark and scary and lovely.
Not to sound too dorky, but reminds me somewhat of Akira, how they chose warm colors for the buildings rather than the blues we're used to.

Posted by Adem at December 13, 2004 05:35 AM
