Comments: half-read book

Reading is good for the mind. But photography is good for the heart. This image appears to be a good compromise. Stunning DOF.

is it really a book?!!! I cant find it Sam!

Lovely abstraction, Sam. Is this one of your reversed lens shots or have you since bought a dedicated macro lens? With the thin line of focus, I'm guessing the former.

I can understand you can't read much lately. You've got such BIG books to lug around. I like this interesting abstract view of an everyday object.

Incredible. It has been a while since I have seen a macro posted here. I love the paper-thin (pun intended?) DOF, and the B&W really makes this pop. Great psuedo-abstract.

Wow...that's a book? I don't really see any book...maybe the blurred out part at the bottom I suppose. In any case, it still looks damned cool.

Can't say I like this photo...Just because it's TOO non-objective. I have no idea what I'm looking at.

what is it? is there a prize for first correct guess?

Great shot, super detail. What is a "reverse lens" ? Keep up the good work.

I really like this one, Sam. Of course, I love books so it's a subject that's close to my heart. Thanks for this one.

I don't know everyone, it seems it's pretty obvious that it's a book to me. Ever read a cloth-bound book (i.e. hardcover)? With the ribbon bookmark sewn into it's spine? That's what you're looking at. Enjoy! Cheerio. . .

It's a macro of the edge of book pages, with dark bookmark between them, and a binding in the top right corner.

The image title says that this was a 300d kit lens + a "reverse 50mm lens". I'm not sure what that is, though.

I see the book. however i didnt notice the pages until I read the title of the photo. Then suddenly this bizarre mixture of shapes and textures became a book and I could see the pages and the bookmark between them sticking out.

I like it. It is a good photo very well done and a cool piece of artwork. I also like the removal of colour from this piece.

Sometimes I feel the colours in some of the other photos are a tad bit over done and look too fake. esspecially im talking about the bright purple clouds mixed with strong light blue tones in other clouds. Recently I have been thinking more and more that those tones just dont seem natural and they re-appear in many of your landscape/cityscape photography.

I look forward to seeing more photos of that kind. I tend to find them far more interesting than these overly sterile abstract photos that leave me feeling nothing but cold and disinterested in the subject matter. However I hope that the colour correction process you sometimes apply will result in a more natural looking image in he future.

Keep up the good work all concerns aside. This is by far the best collection of photos I have seen.

I need to ask, what book is it?

No wonder you don't have time to read, with all of the amazing things you see and photograph!

The texture of the paper looks lovely, but perhaps that is just because of the close-up. I wonder if it is 100% rag? Now I feel like hunkering down with a good book and a nice cup of tea on a chilly last evening of November......thanks, Sam - what a great idea! Of course, I'll take a really, really good look at the book, first.......

Have you attempted photography with Jessops extension tubes ? How do they compare with the reverse macro technique ?
