Comments: zooming streetcar

very interesting light effect ;)

It's impressionistic and expressionistic at the same time. I can almost hear the sound it makes.
I like this one.

I don't like this picture

Posted by Henry at November 13, 2004 06:45 AM

Can you be more specific?

Posted by Henk Bakker at November 13, 2004 06:55 AM

This one is pretty good - from a blurred blob, a street car forms up. Pretty decent picture. Or maybe it's that I just love night shots :-)

didn't you do one almost exactly like this a while ago? if you're going to plagiarize yourslef, at least copy one of your less excruciating images.

Hallucinating?

Sam must be running out of good pictures
This is the worst one to date
How did he take this picture? He just waited at some street corner, set his shutter speed to a low value, pressed the release button as a bus raced by and voila... today's picture. That's great Sam, but you could do better. Maybe you don't have to post everyday. At least wait until something worthwhile captures your attention, yes?

I do find it interesting to compare the lomo pics with those from the digital. It's almost a completely different medium, and the difference is highly recognizable. I don't feel that "lomography" is any less valid than digital photography... it's just different.

That said... I appreciate this lomograph, although it is quite similar to previous night shots with the lomo.

Isn't it amazing that people who give negative comments don't have anything to show themselves?
I think it's quite something to come up with a good photograph every day. Very often I like them and sometimes I don't. If you don't like a picture it doesn't have to mean it's not a good picture. It could have to do with personal preferences and not with the quality of the photography.

This isn't bad at all. Very much like the famous photograph by Ted Croner "TAXI 1947" The naysayers should Google "Croner taxi 1947" and open their minds a bit...

when i first looked at this photo i didnt like it much. I took a second look and started to like it a bit more. The photo is interesting. The speed of the street car shows so well.

in fact, I can almost hear chewys roaring voice as han solo makes the jump to hyperspace.

Or see the delorians tires bursting into flames as it travels back in time. okay ive stayed up too late again.

basically i think the photo would be even better if it was a little tad less blurry and if the front of the street car had been more clear. Its still interesting though as it is.

its a intresting idea to take this kind of picture , moving the camera with low shutter speed intresting hope to see more innovation from you.

Posted by roby at November 13, 2004 02:00 PM

Why oh why do people feel the need to look every day just to void themselves of bile? DON'T LOOK then!!! Or don't comment! Or for god's sake, be interesting. Do you think Sam does this for people to decide whether they "like" it or not? Good grief.

It's wonderful to connect it to other artists, ideas, impressions.. but stop with the self-inflated audience-of-one approach - like it's all for you. The pictures are infinitely more interesting than the negative commentary that shows up here. Go visit some other photoblogs - there's plenty out there.

for the first time, i love this photo. it's really cool, and my ugly chemicaled out comments can't find a place to play. you guys gotta excuze me, I don't have a job and i use a lot of - wlll you gut the idear.

OMG! This is from a lomo! I really had no idea..

I've got Diana to thank for pointing that out.. otherwise I'd have been one of those, "okay this photo is kinda on the crappy side, if shot handheld with a digital rebel so i dont have much to say but think that Sam's really busy.." people :P

This pretty good, but I feel weird that I'm liking a picture because of the equipment that was used. Camera is just a tool, a means to an end.. but Sam's digital rebel photos have been spoiling me (and others) and the fact that this was scanned (I presume) at such high quality, it led me to believe it was subpar for a digital rebel.

And I've got this feeling that I should apologise for my prejudice.. to what, I'm not sure.

I like this shot!!

I've tried to "take-a-shot-a-day" and it's damn hard to do, ... so I appreciate each one of your posts. Granted, some are better than others but so are days of the week .... :)

This is simply a beautiful 'Picture', very. It seems some people are mixing up p&s photography with IMAGERY. this is IMAGERY, painting with street lights. the composition, colors (colours!) and the motion all are eye-candy and good. and too much better than 'broken-fan' picture which i didnt like so far. good capture Sam.

Posted by ila at November 13, 2004 06:38 PM

Hmm, it makes me feel dizzy and does crazy things to my eyes!! Despite that, i don't think it's a bad photo. But does it make anyone else dizzy?

Posted by Spad at November 13, 2004 08:25 PM

aww. The comments counter showed "0", and so of course i was stunned that no one had posted yet, and of course they had :(. Good picture none the less, I love how the street lights' shape is repeated all over. Another excellent picture. Looking forward to tomorrow

ignore the imposter posting above. anyone who has grown accustomed to my ways knows i am incapable of any kind of heart felt apology. Unless i'm doing it as some sort of a joke, like to make fun of a picture or something.

like they say "imitation is the most sincere form of flattery".

Posted by chemical imbalance at November 13, 2004 11:22 PM

(Actually, it's probably safe to say most of us would rather ignore you and listen to an imposter. Way more interesting.)

This image is coming out of the ozone - twilight zone - so cool.

This picture looks cheap
Lomo is for proletarians

Posted by Henry at November 14, 2004 12:30 AM

Jeez, this is a brutal group. I like this shot! Sure, any bozo with a camera can wave it around at night and get cool light streaks. The trick is to make one that works as a standalone image, which I think this one does. I also like shots that help to blur (no pun intended) the line between photography and painting. And I don't even know what a lomo is...

the train has sparks, or flaming jets.
totally bitchin.
