Superb ! I think scrolling actually suits this picture, two very contrasting structures integrated completely.

Yes, I agree with you, usually if you have to scroll it destroys the composition, here it works perfectly. Pictures like this really get there full value with the years, like good wine.
It's just a moment in 2004. But in 10/20/30 years it's an historical statement.

it's just a bland photo of a store downtown... where's the composition? so generic.

I think that the composition come from the fact that the roofs look like a war zone.

At first I thought ... we're back at the Whitby Psych!
Then.....no...maybe the Distillery District!
Three moods in one! The activity on the street really gives this one life!

the shadows echo in the top and bottom thirds around the flat middle

this picture is one of the reasons i don't shoot much color film. great textures and detail but the dominant brick color really ruins the photo.

.-= nice century bridge =-.

This one was definitely a mystery until the scrolling was completed! At first I was thinking 'Mr. HiFi'? More like Mr. Air-Conditioning Unit.......

It highlighted the vulgarity of what were once lovely buildings, proudly designed by some architect.....it made me long to see them as they were likely 100 years ago, and what they were originally built for prior to sinking into the bargainism and tatooity of today.

that's my house.... the shadow in the middle of the top third.
i like to pee on the people below.

should i really comment on this one? whatever you were going for with the roof and the street you missed it. try again maybe. Though I think you found the one part of toronto that just cant be made to look nice. now I guess the truth is out there are some decrepid old junkie shops lining yonge. Toronto isnt really new eden after all.
