Wow. Reminiscent of my school...scary. The sepia tone does it.
Nice piccy...
there is an interestingly eerie glow in the scene and then you wonder who did all this trashing.. then i see where this was taken and it feels a bit mad..
Posted by jes at October 8, 2004 02:14 AMDoes that say 'and the children are screaming' on the board? Creepy as hell, I love it.
Posted by James at October 8, 2004 04:10 AMThis looks like a nightmare dream sequence!
Posted by Liquid Graphics at October 8, 2004 07:57 AMThat could be (except for the obvious time stamp of the furniture) a scene used for Vincent Price in the making of Poe's "The System of Dr. Tarr and Prof. Fether". The masters of the macabre would see immense beauty in this scene.
Posted by Wichi Dude at October 8, 2004 09:21 AMDid you find the last substitute teacher under the chairs and tables? Did she write that last plea for help on the chalkboard of did you? :^)
The b+w chalkboard against the sepia is a great touch along with the open side door for lighting. Are those coins on the floor?

I love it.
Very nice.
I think that's in Building 30 no?
Same shots here (completely unprocessed) from my trip back in July. :)

I want the magnifier so I can read the blackboard!
I love the colour and light here - I was getting sick of the other Whitby pictures with the yellowish pallate, so this is a very nice change of pace for that series.
Posted by Q at October 8, 2004 12:01 PMcool.. looks more like an school than a psychiatric... i like the light effect on chairs and everything that makes everything look shiny and kinda blurry
Posted by mariel at October 8, 2004 12:41 PMThis is just my sick mind but I don't find the image creepy. I find it quite relaxing. The glow effect makes me fell at peace and calm within all of the chaos. Good job!
Posted by Seth at October 8, 2004 12:42 PMI love the quality of light and colour in this photo. I also like the converging lines towards the blackboard but I'm wondering whether the photo might have been strengthened if these lines were more centred. Greater symmetry might enhance the creepiness/mood of the shot.
cheers,
Neil
Fantastic --- reminds me of the Pink Floyd song -- Another Brick in the Wall --- love the toning of the image, too...
Posted by bob at October 8, 2004 03:16 PMReminds me of some classrooms when graduating from high school.
Posted by John at October 8, 2004 04:10 PMSchool's out for summer? School's out for ever?
Alice Cooper? School's been blown to pieces!

Posted by مهستا at October 8, 2004 11:05 PMI've loved the whole psyc-series that you've been posting from time to time - but this one is my favourite.
The scene looks totally insane!
Posted by Paul at October 9, 2004 11:23 AM Enough already. It is reaching boredom. As I asked
last time - more Tehran please.
Great view on psychiatric work! Whats theyrs work good for anyway? Anyone seen someone "healed" after psychiatric treatment?...
Anyway, nice pic ;o) and VERY nice pics on this site, my favorit place for REAL pics. Keep on great work.
1.Wonderful! After a teacher who obsessively orders his classroom layout (3 hours at the end of the day when it is already the most orderly in the building), this is nice to see. I'd say that this is far less nightmarish than such a class!
2.On the artistic side, it is again very interesting. The lighting and coloring present creates such an atmosphere. Somehow, the lighting makes the scene feel ethereal and less disturbing than one would anticipate. Finally, the institutional ceiling and its perspective elements are essential, and if the angling of the view were more to any side, it would not have had the same effect.
3.Nice job!
Posted by a at October 11, 2004 12:47 PMTo me this seems kinda funny. It looks like the patients suddenly rebelled.
