I think they are both wearing the same jacket, not?

i've seen these guys around danforth before. very strange. did you talk to them? i'd love to know what their story is.

Posted by ec at October 3, 2004 02:32 AM

Perhaps they are listening to a recording of one of them speaking and each is trying to figure out which one is talking. :^)

If they have been seen elsewhere like this......I wonder if it has anything to do with www.mumurtoronto.ca where you can pick up audio stories about various parts of downtown?
Love the mood of the picture Sam.

excellent shot :)

Fabulous shot, Sam. People! And you have a new lens. I've heard nothing but good things about the 70-200. Thank you for one of your best shots lately.

Beautiful human interest picture.

Posted by Henk Bakker at October 3, 2004 09:23 AM

Are they twins? Great shot...I think the name connectivity would suit this picture.

Posted by brenda at October 3, 2004 09:24 AM

Twins, that's what I was thinking too.

This image really captured something. I can almost feel it.

A perfect shot. Light, Layout, DOF, Tone, Subject, everything is damn good! :-)

Nice capture and perfect exposure. Wonderful shot!

Nice to show us that you know also how to look at humans ! Those two are really moving…

This picture is amazing, not just technically. Those bros. are listening from the same audio source (god knows what they are listening to, music, audio book may be or even a radio station) yet looking at two different directions symmetrically.

Posted by SlicesofLife at October 3, 2004 07:30 PM

I agree, very nice and interesting picture, makes you wonder. I think they are brothers. And by their backpacks, maybe students, and maybe they are listening to a lecture on tape? Fun to try and figure out their story. Was permission needed to take their picture and post it on the web?

Posted by Mindy at October 3, 2004 08:55 PM

Sam....this is probably my favourite picture of yours. Right moment, right time, and the right man to recognize and capture it.

Beautiful photo gallery I'm out of my city (Toronto)and I miss avery single part, street ,people,weather,... everything.

Posted by Jonatan Hudgson at October 3, 2004 10:15 PM

It's an audio book.

Posted by Boreo at October 3, 2004 10:41 PM

Great shot. Absolutely poetic.

Posted by Eve at October 3, 2004 11:48 PM

nice. id guess it is like the other person said a tape about that part of the city... a tour type tape or a related story of some sort. but it makes each of us ponder for a moment the possiblities and its moving. Ive always thought great art convays emotions and this transfers many to the viewer. Nicely done.. your works are inspiring. ive considered photography in another light now

HEY! that's my cd player!!!!! THEY STOLE MY CD PLAYER!!!!!!

Posted by chemical imbalance at October 4, 2004 09:27 AM

to chemical: that's not a CD player. It's a cassette walkman. you might have chemicals in your eyes preventing you from seeing clearly!

Posted by lance at October 4, 2004 09:51 AM

very nice shot!

Posted by elwin at October 4, 2004 11:18 AM

My guess is they're listening to Bootsy Collins.

Posted by Re-Pete at October 4, 2004 02:55 PM

phew! thanks for clarifying, lance! it turns out i had my cd player in my pocket the whole time!

Posted by chemial imbalance at October 4, 2004 03:19 PM

hi from berlin:

nice shot, but why didn´t you wait till they finished the listening and asked them what they were listening to....

greetings jan

Posted by jan klein at October 4, 2004 04:19 PM

hi jan from berlin, in a world overloaded with info, isn't it wonderful to be able to use your imagination to ponder what they were listening to?

best regards, brian

Posted by brian at October 4, 2004 06:30 PM

very interesting. ive seen these guys around town for a few years now and they always look the same, are wearing the same clothes, carrying the same style of bag etc (same patchy hair patterns too). one time they stopped in a cafeteria and pulled some papers out. i was very close to walking by and sneaking a closer look at what they were doing but then decided against, to keep the whole mystique alive...

How much time you are waiting for some shot lik ethis everyday? You are amazing!
