I love the colors... the contrast b/w the leaf and the surface color is just fantastic.

Posted by Tyler at September 27, 2004 03:00 AMthis is a beautiful picture!!!i would have to agree the way it contrasts with the black and white makes it breathtaking.
Posted by froggy at September 27, 2004 04:54 AMI saw in it a pleading hand. Great shot.
Posted by john at September 27, 2004 07:49 AMI like the perspective that this shot was taken. But have the colors been altered? If so, looks a little 80's.
(yes, fall is my favorite season for sure)
Posted by leigh at September 27, 2004 08:10 AMThis screams DESKTOP WALLPAPER to me! Love it!
Posted by Jonesy at September 27, 2004 08:58 AMI was going to say "simply stunning" but Myla beat me to it. ;)
So I'll just shut up and let this gorgeous photo earn its thousand-word keep.
Posted by Alec Long at September 27, 2004 09:59 AMif you all think they're so "stunning" you're welcome to come on over to my place and rake the buggers up to your hearts' content
Posted by chemical imbalance at September 27, 2004 10:03 AMOnce again Sam has shown us something so simple that says so much!
And thanks to "chemical imbalance" for my morning chuckle!
One of the more original 'autumn leaf' shots I've seen; I like the long shadows and selective focusing.
Posted by James at September 27, 2004 10:22 AMFantastic shot. Rich colours, great detail and that shadow is perfect.
Posted by sigma at September 27, 2004 10:50 AMNOOOOO!!!!!!
I want the summber back...
Nice Image tho. Rich colors and details.
Bravo.
Soo
nice choice of background..not sure whether it was intentional or photoshopped, but the greys really bring out the colors in the leaf.
Posted by tanner at September 27, 2004 11:38 AMAwesome colour and detail.
It's amazing how many trees ahave started changing colour in the city over the weekend.

Posted by Hadi at September 27, 2004 07:09 PMPlease give us a wallpaper!!! 1280X1024
Posted by rz at September 27, 2004 07:44 PMI'll echo what the majority has already said... Great color, great framing, great DOF, REALLY great color, great contrast, and nice detail. Some of the areas seems a bit grainy, but definitely not too distracting.
This is one of those shots that inspires me to shoot more myself--this shot makes it look so easy. It's simple, and yet so interesting. Then, once I transfer the images to the computer, it becomes completely clear how difficult it is to capture these simple-looking shots with this level of quality.
Thanks for another inspiring, and humbling, photo.
Posted by Marc at September 27, 2004 08:26 PMI keep looking at this picture and maybe I was wrong about the grain--I think maybe it's just texture, which is awesome. Shoot! And here I was trying to be constructive.
Anyway... keep up the good work. (And sorry for the back-to-back posts.)
Posted by Marc at September 27, 2004 08:29 PMWow..the colors, the shadows, the curled tips, the out-of-focus edge to the amazing detail !! Takes my breath away!! I love fall colors!! Thanks for sharing!!
Posted by Mindy at September 27, 2004 09:06 PMWALLPAPER!

Posted by Eric Hancock at September 28, 2004 08:52 PMYeah, this is totally my wallpaper now too.
Man, a lot of the photoblogs are echoing Autumn everywhere. Seasons change on the Net too!
Posted by Philip Dhingra at September 29, 2004 02:36 PMThe death of Summer!
Posted by joey at September 29, 2004 06:29 PMIt's almost embarassing to be the 37th person to gush over this picture -- but it is truly beautiful. I love the subtle colour shifts, the level of the detail in both the leaf in the rock and the shallow deoth of field. And it's a great reminder of fall back home for those of us in exile. :-)
