Comments: niagara rainbow

Sam is working for a postcard company now! I'm sure the good people in charge of The Maid of the Mist and other touristy sorts in Niagara would be happy to see this picture as well.

Seems so surreal. Great job.

WOW, all I can say.

This reminds me of one of my all-time favorite passages:

Once it chanced that I stood
in the very abutment of a rainbow's arch,
which filled the lower stratum of the atmosphere,
tinging the grass and the leaves around,
and dazzling me as if I looked through
colored crystal.
It was a lake of rainbow light,
in which, for a short while,
I lived like a dolphin.

(and it hopefully goes without saying (but I'll say it anyway) -- this is a stunning capture)

And what's with the baloons ?

its awesome !

esp. the green of the waters, the single white ship, the mist and the balloon in the distance.

Let me be there !

This pic is a little too 'fake' for me. Looks as if it was extensively altered. The only aspect I really like is the water. I love Sam's pics for the reality and textures of everyday life-this one just doesn't do that for me.

man, you got it all in there. certainly one of the nicer 'postcards' i've seen from there. great job!

I really dislike rainbow pictures. I'm not sure what it is, but I find rainbows in photos over-rated - they're only exciting when you discover them in the sky in person..HOWEVER, the water in this picture is fantastic. I have never seen the water at Niagara falls captured so well. The falls themself are not exciting, but that's perfect to set the stage for the green water. The lines going through it and the light hitting it down is very nice. Awesome pic, besides the rainbow.

I'm sure the saturation has been whacked up in this shot but, for me, that's not a problem; If enhancement makes a shot more visually exciting, it's fine in my book. The colour of that water is awesome.

The only Sam's photo since the birth of DDOI that I can say 'I don't like it', well, actualy I can say I hate it! not because the 'Rainbow' thing, but for the colors, composition and etc. :-) That would be a great piece if it was only the ship in the frame. (croped close up)

some friends of mine were just at the Falls this weekend... i asked about the Maid of the Mist and if they wore the little yellow raincoats and they said, to my dismay, "no, they were blue..."

nice pic!!

its nearly impossible to take a bad shot of such a beautiful spot as the falls. however although this shot is pretty. i must agree it is not up to your usual standards. hope to see better shots of the falls in the future.. this is very touristy.. and like something i would see on post cards and not great works of art
