very cool. it's great to see someone experimenting. though i'm still partial to the original, uncropped shot. :)

Posted by Emily at August 16, 2004 12:56 AM

that shot is perfect, i love it!!

Posted by mike b at August 16, 2004 12:57 AM

Very, very good eye.
Well done!

Posted by bud at August 16, 2004 12:58 AM

That's unbelievable. I literally did a double take when i first saw it.

Posted by Kyle at August 16, 2004 01:07 AM

Hah I honestly thought you had photochopped it with some fancy filter or something. Awsome eye.

Posted by Raffi at August 16, 2004 01:19 AM

Well done. Good vision and execution.

WOW !!!!

Posted by mike at August 16, 2004 02:14 AM

Fantastic composition. I really like the wider shot, too, but this one is really cool. My first thought, right after taking in and holding a sharp breath, was "now, what did you do?" Beautiful.

Posted by Alec Long at August 16, 2004 02:20 AM

Wonderful! :-) Nice shot!

This district has become a mecca for photographers. Your simulated pen and ink is a real winner.

Posted by John at August 16, 2004 07:25 AM

That's awesome.

Posted by maria at August 16, 2004 08:16 AM

That is very cool. :)

Posted by christen at August 16, 2004 08:40 AM

Great, fun, cool. I laughed out loud when I saw the wide shot. You HAVE to send this one to Pikto and the people who run/manage the Disitillery District. They'll eat it up!

Hahahaha. Nice trick

Posted by Ioannis at August 16, 2004 08:55 AM

Heh heh, very original. A friend of mine was absolutely convinced for a moment that you had merely imported the background with Photoshop. That is, until I showed him the wider image. Nice job.

Posted by Jeremiah at August 16, 2004 09:08 AM

I'm thinking:
"HUH!!??? WHATS WRONG WITH THIS PICTURE!???"

Very funny Sam. Thanks for my morning laugh!

Posted by Henry at August 16, 2004 09:30 AM

What did you do in Photoshop to enhance the clouds in the cropped shot? Very nice.

Posted by Jerry at August 16, 2004 09:55 AM

LOL a clever one !

Posted by rei at August 16, 2004 10:15 AM

me thinks you played with the lighting in photoshop ;)

but still a very cool picture

Trickshot!

Posted by jwtje at August 16, 2004 11:50 AM

that's insane!!!!

Posted by legofish at August 16, 2004 12:01 PM

my first instict was that u had fashioned some sorta cardboard cutout. i wasn't far off.

would have been more realistic if u had some smoke coming out of that chimney. maybe you could have taped a lit cigarette to the other side of the sign.

Posted by chemical imbalance at August 16, 2004 12:32 PM

This is the first time I see a picture like this... Very creative... I First thought it was done by photoshop.... Nice shot.

Posted by Reza at August 16, 2004 12:43 PM

All I have to say is wow. Just like everyone eles u had me thinking. You should have made everyone wonder and put the wide shot up for tomorrows blog ;). Anyways, very creative!

Posted by Y at August 16, 2004 12:59 PM

Posted by photojunkie at August 16, 2004 02:20 PM

extremely clever shot. you have a very inspiring site.

Posted by steven at August 16, 2004 03:29 PM

Very smart, I'm not surprised you've had so many comments on this one. I thought you'd put the house thing over a sky background. Again, very smart.

By the way, that looks a bit like a viewtiful joe scene (gamecube/ps2 gsame)

Posted by lmt32 at August 16, 2004 03:51 PM

Ha! The bits of chain link fence: those are tops of windmills or the tops of high-tension power line towers?

Posted by Richard Anderson at August 16, 2004 04:07 PM

tricky... i thought that you made a drawing and pasted it over some sky

Posted by mariel at August 16, 2004 04:27 PM

That's sneaky! Lovely, but still sneaky.

Posted by cmb at August 16, 2004 04:56 PM

The photo's I've seen so far are fantastic! This one threw me for a few seconds, then I saw the wider shot, and slapped myself! Hmmm...

Posted by tmar at August 19, 2004 09:07 PM

Hehe, I´ve got really confused trying to guess how it was done! Excellent photo-play!

Posted by MicYaro at August 23, 2004 09:48 AM

mmmmm. you bear watching, skywalker.

Posted by Claude Garmon at September 2, 2004 08:12 PM

As said before. brilliant. The idea was great. I only wonder if you thought of it when you took the shot, which seems unlikely or at what time you realised that you could crop it like this when looking at it later. Either way its great and a beautiful piece of art. Only you know if you pulled a homer and stumbled upon this by accident or not.
