I always forget how big it is!!!

Wow - great shot and I'd LOVE to be one of those yellow people! Awesome!

I'd love to know the little yellow people story too -- I can almost hear the sound of the water in this shot, it's beautiful, as always.

top shape then!

i was there in the winter and there were hunks of ice falling down it.. brrr!

Posted by tlell at August 4, 2004 03:03 AM

I went down where they were years ago and during winter, though as i recall some bits were closed due to ice. If you get the chance go down, its a good place to get up close and personal with the falls

It's a beautiful shot, just different than the other pictures of this place... Nice work.

I've always wanted to go to the falls. Man, you are just tempting me to my limits ! Great work.

Posted by rei at August 4, 2004 05:17 AM

I have not been there yet, so thanks.

Hi Sam,

Nice Shot, love the contrast you get.
actually i was there last year...(Little people in yellow)...and taking pictures from there..too...increidibly enough ..a little rock the size of an eraser...fell right on my head..from the people above they said.
Quite interesting there...there is a tunnel that goes right behind the falls...so you can see it from inside too...very powerful feeling!

Incredible.

Intense photo -- immense place! I've flown over this a million times, but have never been this close -- I want to be one of the yellow people!

Posted by bob at August 4, 2004 08:38 AM

Stunning....

Forget the yellow rain slickers. The colour detail in the flowers at the top right of the frame is absolutely stunning! And I'd forgotten about that little island in the centre that always looks like it's about to go barreling over the falls.

Yet another winner! National Geographic quality.

lol yeah "little yellow people" are interesting! Nice shot Sam.

Did you know they switch Niagara Falls off at night?! Great shot, btw.

Posted by JamesK at August 4, 2004 01:11 PM

Breathtaking. Great composition of texture!

Great shot! I was considering going back this summer for a visit but am going off to Montreal instead. If you get a chance to go down and be one of the "yellow people" it will certainly be worth it. Really impressive. I have a decent shot from down there but I don't have a site to post it on yet. Send me an email with Niagara in the subject if anyone would like me to email it to them.

All i have to say is Wow... All your pictures are absolutely AMAZING! I get online every morning to see if you've updated yet...i've become addicted to your pictures! Thank you so much for all you give to everyone. my favorite pic out of all the ones i've seen has to be the CN tower reflected on the red VW bug...outstanding.Mad props to your site. keep at it!

I am heading there in a few days!

Posted by Kevin at August 4, 2004 05:27 PM

Not only is that lookout point pictured quite amazing, but so is the Maid of the Mist boat tour that takes you extremely close to the base of the falls. I still have my rain poncho from back in the day when I lived in the area. I cannot remember if it was yellow or translucent, however.

Incredible. I never get sick of seeing Niagara Falls. This is probably the best shot I've ever seen. You can almost hear the roar of the water. There is so much depth in this photo. Bravo!

Fantastic shot, awe inspiring. I like the little yellow people, they look like lemmings.

Posted by Hannah at August 4, 2004 09:26 PM

Great shot.

Strangely, I posted a very similar shot just a few days ago.

I was hoping those yellow people would catch some sunlight and look brighter and stand out more. I was gonna say the greens are a bit blurry. But after I saw the one on the link above, I think I should withhold any further comment.

Hmm, I have a faint memory of being down there, you can't see much sometimes because of all of the mist... infact, you would need a windshield wiper setup on the lens, haha... theres a reason why you wear the rain coats, wind gusts toss TONS of water on to that area.

Can't you see me?? I am down there, on the left, holding a soaked wet 300D! Want proof??? Here : http://stillmemory.ca/images/niagara_behind_journey.jpg
