Ooooh, 98-2002 Corvette C5 convertible with optional side strakes and the classic 'thin' 5 spokes. Two of my passions combined, 'vettes and photography.

Was this shot with an IS lens by any chance? I was just reading about panning with them in Shutterbug today, and how they help things out by keeping the lines of streaks straight.

Posted by Darren at July 26, 2004 08:44 PM

Darren, the streak lines are not straight. Why would you think this is an IS lens?

Simply a great photo. I like all of the colors.

Nice shot! I went to college in Bowling Green, KY were the Corvette is made. I like the composition, but I think it would also look good cropping down to just above the red car over the hood of the corvette.

Thank you for letting me know about the lens. I was wondering also if this was shot just panning or done with the 'motion blur' feature in photoshop? Just because of the wording in the post with the photo some of my friends thought it was done in photoshop, but I kept comparing it to a shot i took 20 years ago where I just panned my camera. So I'm just curious about if this shot is from the camera, or post processing in photoshop for the effect. I'm personally hoping it's just old fashioned panning. : )

Cool Sam. I think I like this one the best of all your panning shots. He looks like he was going pretty fast too.

They should sell cars with pictures like this

Posted by nosa at July 31, 2004 08:35 PM

greaaaaaatttt shot, the motion makes me dizzy!

Posted by ray at September 27, 2004 09:14 PM

Nice shot, but poor choice of subject I think. Rather than appreciating the colours and composition, I find myself thinking "just another car ad". If it had been anything but a sportscar (a bike, someone running, even a soccer-mom van), but with the sportscar clearly in focus, and that overwhelming feeling of motion and speed, it screams advertising.
