Comments: hamburg destroyed church

It looks like two giants going head to head in a battle.

Oh, also it's an amazing shot with a great feeling about it. Well done, indeed.

Is that Bruno Ganz I see perched atop the church?

both mighty and spooky. It would have been greater if it was raining :-)

Lovely. Makes me wonder why we bow our heads in prayer instead of looking up.

There is nothing on this photo that tells us these structures have actaully been damaged i.e. "mostly destroyed in WW2". I can barely even recognize one of them as a church. All is see are these big ol' boring clouds. Great portfolio though.. this one photo is just not.

My $0.02

Great shot. Wondering how you took it. Must have needed a lot of crouching or did you take it lying on the ground??

i'm not much of a religious freak, but i am a fan of black and white photography.

It's a great shot, with a typical sky here in Hamburg (always cloudy). Most churches in Germany have been reconstructed, but I guess this is the one they kept in this city as a reminder of the WWII. BTW, this website is great (my favorite).

This is the Nikolaikirche, see http://www.nikolaikirche.com/ (German only).

I like your shots, but you have too many in this style.. well, at least too many recently.. at first or if you see one at a time they are really stunning.. but when it's one after another.. you know what I am getting at..

Sam, you never failed to impress me. Everyday, when i check your photos, i say to myself, Can he do it again?? and yet, you keep proving it to me.

FANTASTIC shot. for the first second i thought its the Towering inferno.

I wont check your site anymore ;-), i'm convinced.

Very nice picture. The sky adds a nice touch of gloominess.

No one has remarked on the tension created by negative space in this image. Powerful image aesthetically & intellectually.

Gives a gloomy feel.
