different door handles? gotta <3 that repression.. :P
Posted by asdf at July 7, 2004 02:29 AMA fantastic old door and nicely captured. A nice comp.
Posted by Andy Bannister at July 7, 2004 03:51 AMrepression? it's more of a custom really.
Posted by joe at July 7, 2004 07:37 AMI wouldnt say its repression... women are still allowed to enter right? i mean, wow.. if something is different its automatically bad i guess (Sarcasm... how i love thee)...
Otherwise, I love the shot... the gold and blue above the door looks really good :) lots of colour and another view of a country that I dont know much about, thanks Sam!! :):)
Posted by Brad_Fotographie at July 7, 2004 07:46 AMwhen u say dedicated to talayeh, r u talking about the one who went to Tatbighi school back in 1994-5 ?
Posted by Leila at July 7, 2004 09:42 AMI forgot to say what i wanted to say in the 1st place: its a beautiful picture. the blue is so striking!
Posted by leila at July 7, 2004 09:46 AMbeautiful and nostalgic, a birth of the old past!, (plant under door).
Posted by effat at July 7, 2004 10:37 AMomg the textures. i love it.
Posted by sigma at July 7, 2004 12:08 PMold things are cool.
Posted by chemical imbalance at July 7, 2004 12:31 PMi'm curious about how the two door-knockers differ in tone: does one resonate more delicately than the other? and the venerable texture in this picture is wonderful, as is the added colour of the tile - a blessing? - and the tiny touch of green..
Posted by lynn at July 7, 2004 02:12 PMI like the green.
Please elaborate on your lament of the lens kit. I do not yet notice an imperfection.
Will you share what is written on the blue sign, and at the top of the left door?
Posted by Heidi at July 7, 2004 03:23 PMAn old beautiful door. Why do we like these? I feel they are curing me!
I loved that young green.
what a fantastic photo!! well done
Posted by ian at July 7, 2004 07:19 PMHi, I love your picture. Nice details. And the green leaves...!
Wonderful ! And for once it is an authentic one. It's incredible how nowadays you can by "old" arab doors which in fact are produced in small factories and seem so "original"
Posted by borgo at July 8, 2004 06:26 AMNice comparison between somthing very old and the young green leave. I love the photo.
Posted by Poopak at July 8, 2004 09:44 AMWhat an eye this is a lovely shot! Like the composition and clarity, don't seem to be disturbed by the "unfortunate imperfection". Which btw is what exactly? Doors & door ways - they are endlessly fascinating, I think it is because they resonate with hope and expectation. Views of pathways do the same for most people too I notice. Images like this lead to reflection.
Personally I find views of coast lines provide the same sense of possibility and delight for me. Thank you, thank you!
[& who is this other Lynn? With the excellent taste in photography]
Sam, beautiful, as always. Ba ejazeh, if I may share the translation of what is written above the door...
It reads..."Gaurdianship (love) of Ali the son of Abi Talib is My fortress. And who ever enters My fortress is secured from My torment."
