Comments: townhouse alley

how neat and clean and uncluttered. reminds me of the houses in the truman show.

how come they're all number 150 ?

This location is super, but the white sky is killing it. I'm hereby begging you to shoot it at a different time of day. Perhaps 30min after sunset if they have lights???

Emily: Turman Show was in SeaSide Florida ;)

~nice color & contrast, a well seen composition~

'the sky is spoiling this shot', was my first reaction and i see i'm not alone in that assessment. go back when the sky is blue or have some interesting cloud formations. but i like the lines of the architecture.

I just wanted to disagree a bit with those of you who didn't like the white sky, saying it ruined the shot. I personally think the white sky "makes" the shot. Everything about this "place" is fake (...Truman Show) from the unusal architecture, to the eerie symmetry (what's with the flower pots and the 150?), to the sureal looking white sky. A blue or cloud filled sky would have given this shot a reality boost, which I think would've killed the shot.

Maybe my analysis is too deep, but just putting in my 2 cents. Perhaps if I see the same shot with a blue sky, I would change my mind.

P.S. Great shot!

Weird.
Seems as if it was altered. because of the 2 150's but the windows are open on 1 side and not on the other. This is great symmetry but why am I not surprised.

oh wow!!! What a great shot, wonderful geometric shapes, lines, architecture, colors ... there is so much in this one shot. I fell in love with it as soon as I saw it!

I NEVER look at comments before mine - and I notice there are few, so I apologize for repeating anything that's been said.... I really like shot... what stands out for me is the pastel color of the sky -- and the siding of the building seems to pull the image together... and all the red seems to bring it all in - contain it... and I love the flower pots... there's lots going on in this image... I really like it... The two garage doors are a real plus... lines/perspective/symetry/color/patterns/texture... one of my favorites...

I usually hate reading the comments because all too often they entirely miss the point.
This shot isn't about a landscape with lovely clouds, etc. -- the white sky totally emphasizes the clean lines and the symetry which Sam has captured beautifully!

nice use of perspective, simetry, contrast... i think is a very nice shot.

about the sky, i found it nice to be white, cus if it was light blue the buildings' light blue wood wouldn't contrast as good. But maybe, as hoosh said, if I see the same shot with a blue sky, I would change my mind.

That's not fair. My camera would give me all those crazy barrel distortion. I might as well shoot with a fish-eye lens. Watch out for those snipers lurking behind the windows.

I hope this isn't the old Jarvis House!

i wish that the building in the top right weren't there
other than that, its very good, not like you needed me to say that though.

awsome picture, my college is just one block south of that street. I like that long drive way and townhouse.
