Wow, perfect exposures and use of light here. I love how bright and saturated the foreground is and yet how the background completely drops off.

Yes, good light. Really cool with the dark, black background. Nice colors on the fruits, or what it is..

Thanx for the souvenir:)

I LOVE these shots. Of course when I complained about yesterdays shot I knew Sam had about 500 brilliant shots from his trip, sorry to those of you I offended by being critical. What do these remarks amount to anyway? Amazing to see the amount of you that spring to Sam's defence. You know he's an art director, I'm sure he can take a critique, justified or not.

Very Odd shots yet I'm strangely turned on.
great stuff

I also LOVE these pictures. Incredibly interesting to look at. Thanks for sharing...

Okay folks, there has been some question about the quality of Sam's work here recently. I got a preview of Sam's Iran shots, and you should know now you're going to be disappointed. Mediocre photos of a mediocre country... Oh man, I can't even type that with a straight face. The shots are great of course. Choosing which one to post will be the hardest thing about it.

But Moose, Sam DID break down crying yesterday when he read your scathing review. ;-)

mediocre country? ... you have no idea Scott.
anyway, better have a mediocre country with great men, and not vise versa.

mediocre is thinking as lame as that in the 3rd millenium. mediocre is being stuck up in discrminations. mediocre is being under-achieved in a so-called developed world. EXQUISITE, however, is an individual who can grab the ordinary and turn it into extraordinary; who can rise from a so-called underdeveloped land and achieve peaks you cannot even dream of; who can conquer places beyond your filthy, retarded imagination.

ila and amir, Scott was being sarcastic. That's why he said he couldn't type it with a straight face. It is a difficult nuance of the English language to pick up especially when written not spoken.

mniam..... I feel that red colour on my thongue....

Posted by kasia at June 3, 2004 05:20 AM

Thanks Brian, for explaining the sarcasm. I'd hate for anyone to think I really meant that. ila and amir - I was kidding! Iran looks incredible, different than anything I've seen before. "Mediocre" was the word most opposite what I meant that I could think of. :-)

Yes, the color and the lighting are just beautiful. But, there is much more here. These two photos keep drawing me back. This could be from any little farmer's market in any little town in America. I want to reach out my hand to this man. Thanks, Sam, for making the world in which we live just a little smaller.

Oh, good, then I'm sorry Scott! :-)

the clarity and the colours are perfect, and i like the unfform horizontal lining-up of those red things in the first shot. beautiful shots.
