:) Nice. I love the rough texture of the white-washed wall.

Nice enough to remind me the past. Moreover, the sign has apparently been made look too beautiful! ;)

By the way, I wanted to mention this yesterday, I think you are 1 day behind the actual calendar date. Today is June 1st.

it's kind of like Canada's "Post No Bills"!! That's awesome.

Looks like the wall has been painted a few times to get rid of any apparent graffiti.

Welcome Back

I disagree: It ceretainly matters what the sign says. I'm disappointed by your image today, I was looking forward to something about your trip that was at least as interesting as yesterdays. This shot is not up to your usual standard. A textured wall and a messy diamond sign? What else is there about this shot than what the sign says to recommend it? OK maybe I'm being hyper critical, but you're quality is usually much higher.

Not everything is going to be a homerun. Give the guy a break -- he's been back for a day. For all we know, this could have much more personal meaning to Sam than to the viewer. And personally, I love seeing singage from around the world, especially something like this cuz we can relate to POST NO BILLS, etc.

In response (mainly) to moose: IMO a photoblog is more akin to a story than it is a gallery of sequential and perfectly wonderful shots. And I suppose I have two things to say to say about that.

First: posting every day is sometimes quite difficult - I've done it for around 4 months on my blog and sometimes I end up putting up stuff that just isn't up to the 'usual standard', and I think that's ok. Second, there is definitely a place for critical commentary on any blog - I find it invaluable on mine - but constructive criticism is much more useful than a simple (negative) 'this is no good'.

As for my reaction: what works for me in this shot is the diagonal band of light across the top-left of the image, it points to a wider context beyond the 'textured wall'.

In my opinion light and colors composition is nice.
Good Luck.

In response to moose (mostly): I think the sign has more meaning to people who actually know the region and lived there (like myself). This picture is indicatave of Iran, and especially Tehran.

IMO, one of Sam's better shots...but again, the POV always makes a difference. One man's trash is another's treasure.

Both of the textures are really awesome together. I don't love the shot - but I like it.
Thanks for this
