Excellent! Knowing this was a psychiatric facility gives it an even more chilling feeling.
Posted by E. M. at April 28, 2004 01:36 AMWow! this is a very dark image. And I am not talking about the lighting...
Posted by stan at April 28, 2004 02:52 AMAll of these psychiatric photographs you have would make a great piece for 28mm, or a special photographic section. Good stuff...
Posted by Jessyel Ty Gonzalez at April 28, 2004 03:14 AMnice GI! :-D

Posted by twtwwtin at April 28, 2004 06:00 AMHow did you get in there anyways!?! These pictures try my mind. I don't understand why something so derelict and depressing is so beautiful, but thats a compliment.
Posted by Alex Mitchell at April 28, 2004 07:08 AMthis is a great pic - wish I had taken it! chilling - it says so much
Posted by Claire at April 28, 2004 08:10 AMI've been there several times; though never brave enough to sneak in. Beautiful shot.
Posted by Michael at April 28, 2004 08:51 AMEeechh. Those walls really creep me out. Peeling paint reminds me of fungus or something. Don't let it touch me!
Posted by Kurt Nordstrom at April 28, 2004 08:54 AMAnother great one. Your eye for light is spot-on.
I once explored a long-abandonned university residence building (it was more dramatic than it sounds, trust me: pool, elevator shafts, cafeteria, basement storage, etc.). The feel of your last two psychiatric facility photos has captured the feel of that building too, from so long ago. Thanks!
Kudos.

Posted by Doug at April 28, 2004 09:14 AMA friend of mine told me about this place and took pictures in it. Although I have never had a chance to check it out myself. There is something very creepy about it, which makes me a tad apprehensive
Posted by rannie at April 28, 2004 09:41 AMEven if it was freshly painted with an eye pleasing colour, with brand new fixture's and a brand new light bulb, cleaned perfectly and then cleaned again, it would STILL be a horrid loo.
Posted by qOJ at April 28, 2004 10:04 AMVery dark and deep. Creepy is it very much. But a lovely shot. Perfect for the topic junk.
Posted by Kjetil at April 28, 2004 10:12 AMa very creepy picture; how DID you get in there?
Posted by sanam at April 28, 2004 10:42 AMBeautiful and scary, lovely and chilling light. Wonderful photo!

Posted by Cerioscha at April 28, 2004 11:54 AMdark and chilling is right and at the same time strangely beautiful ... I wander the corridors of my mind in golden darkness ... great shot!
Posted by 'daisies at April 28, 2004 01:41 PMBad enough you probably feel closed in inside a psych ward but then have to go to the bathroom inside that small space? Im glad its abandoned. Very nice picture.

Posted by kandi champagne cook at April 28, 2004 05:13 PMDude, I think I've been watching way too much HGTV & DIY shows, because the only think I'm thinkin' is, "well, with a fresh coat of paint, some new fixtures and a little elbow grease, it might be cute."
*shudder*
Posted by BrotherAli at April 28, 2004 06:36 PMThere is something reassuring about the certainty of decay.
Posted by Newfred at April 28, 2004 07:09 PMwow.... the walls probably tell stories...
perfect location for some horror movie x) awsome shot.
I would like it more if the wall is in focus too. And I think I see crap on the toilet seat. A psycho taking a crap in such a long and narrow room....hmm, If we go back in time, he/she would be sitting on the toilet bowl, looking right at you when you took the pic. That's creepy.
Posted by Boreo at April 28, 2004 08:32 PMHmm, if I had to live in this place, I'd GO insane. Who'd they design this place for? Manute Bol's crazy cousin?
Posted by Flimflam at April 28, 2004 10:34 PMa definition of beauty from a book, the power of limits, about the golden ratio: An arrangement in such proportions that nothing could be added nor taken away save to the detriment of the whole. This photo is beautiful. As for the place-- well, calgon?
