were these pictures taken on the same street as these pictures: http://wvs.topleftpixel.com/archives/photos_cityscape/031209_335.shtml ?
or is that what all Toronto streets look like?

Pretty cool stuff. Has an almost 'small Times Square' feel to it.

As a fellow Torontonian -- yes same street, but a few city blocks away.

A note about the first post. The Uptown Theatre pics were the pictures that I first saw, my first time to this website. I had heard about the Uptown collapsing and I wanted to find a picture of what it looked like before it had fallen. Sure enough Google brought me here. I have been coming by ever since.

I used to live about an hour away from Toronto so I visited frequently. Since I have been visiting this site for the past six or so months I have been amused by the locations I still recognise. I had all but forgotten about Sam the Record Man until now. Thanks for the great memories!

Is the one that was on Barrington Street in Halifax gone? They used to have an amazing selection of Classical and Jazz and Blues.

What i always love about your photographs is they make me feel homesick. You beautifully capture in pixels and pictures what i consider to be my most valuable hours, the ones spent in toronto.

Been living in Vancouver for a while and pic of Sam's makes me think of just how long. Nothing like it her in Vanc, Virgin Records maybe but Vancouver is nothing like TO for being able to find what you want to find. Vancouver is a very small town compared to Toronto. thx

I used to work with someone who worked there for a summer, back in 2000. I paid a visit myself in spring 2002; I can't remember what I bought there, though I do remember finding a lot of old SST discs in the rock'n'pop A-Z, and the rock chick at the register was wearing an orange Belle & Sebastian t-shirt. (What is it with you North Americans and your fascination with twee Scottish bands?)

Personally I thought the Cheapos across from Lee's Palace was better - I found loads of bargains there, including a rare fIREHOSE promo - but they've changed their name now, haven't they? Did the store change with it?
