Very nice! Love the angle it is taken from. And the clouds in the back really do something with the picture. They give it a special mood. And that is a good thing, you know!

Uncredible sky !

Excellent. The dark base and the upper reaches of light, the wings skyward. Beautiful, powerful, and reaching. Thanks.

The sky is an amazing contrast of movement and dynamic colour - powerful and intense!

stunning! Those clouds look furious.... can I ask what this memorialises? 1st or 2nd world war? And what is the relief of Kimberley?

Posted by louise at April 16, 2004 11:38 AM

Yes, very nice. I wonder if it'd benifit from lightening up the forground just a bit, just enough to bring out some of the detail a bit? Don't know if that'd ruin the effect of the shot though. Course, what do I know.... I'll give out advice when I can take shots like that :)

The War Memorial was erected in 1910, in memory of those who lost their lives in the Boer War.

The bronze and granite Memorial was designed by Walter Seymour Allward.

The inscription on the Memorial reads.

TO THE
MEMORY AND IN HONOUR OF
THE CANADIANS WHO DIED
DEFENDING THE EMPIRE IN
THE SOUTH AFRICAN WAR
1899-1902

I agree with the other guy saying making the foreground brighter. The composition is very nice though.

I have a friend who, when presented with an example of strange behaviour by another person, would ask them, in a childish, sing-song manner "What colour are the clouds on your planet?"

This shot has an other-worldly quality. The dark fore ground emphasises the intense clouds.
These are art photographs.
