These shots sum up what you do best: show us our world (esp. Toronto) so we don't take it for granted, so we see it in new ways. Thanks for helping us see!

Sam,

I first stumbled across DDOI after visiting and falling in love with Toronto on my honeymoon in 2005. My wife and I loved the city so much we visited again the following year, this time with the knowledge and experience garnered through your wonderful photographs to guide us to some of the more interesting sights around the city.

I will deeply miss my daily glimpse at life in a truly wonderful city brought to life so vividly and lovingly in your irreplacable photoblog.

DDOI thank you and good bye.

“the years of our life are seventy,
or even by reason of strength eighty”
(for lucky creatures : ninety+)
and when this period was delicious
it was a chain of 1/500 sec - f 11-moments
(datas convertible)

thanks for some shared years, Sam Javanrouh……
i wonder what you’ll create in the following decades.

what a power of endurance!

“words didn’t come in an easy way…”
because it’s not my native tongue!
thank you for the inspiration for searching, hopefully finding the right words
to express my emotions.
Commenting sometimes was rather time-consuming.
Often is was a hard struggle for choosing the right words,
Always it was JOY.

Posted by liliom at July 3, 2013 10:39 AM

As aplenty others did:
the first web page we vistited every morning was ddoi.
It was a routine, a rite, a procedure.
thank you for this years

I'm really going to miss these. Thanks so much for sharing your view of the city.

Posted by Dorothy Taylor at July 3, 2013 10:45 AM

thank you, Sam.
you posted photography
not only discussed and praised for its highly sophisticated technique
but simply loved because of its philantrophy way that touched the hearts so often.
Sometimes so hard that it hurts.

Posted by billy at July 3, 2013 10:46 AM

You have fans in so many countries
and the array of your work is so dazzling.
Imagine what worlswide breathlessness there was sometimes
when you posted one of those great architecture photos.
Or an „unisono“ smile when there was one of your warmhearted streets.
But when you posted a funny picture :
what a the laughter there was around the globe!
Amusing thoughts, aren’t they?

Posted by Matt at July 3, 2013 10:48 AM

thank you and good bye!

Don’t cry that it’s gone.
Be happy that it was, dear co-admirers!
*sobb*
Feel a little bit unburdened that it’s over, Sam!
*smile*
And thanks to your wife for beeing sympathetic about sharing so much time with us.
*double smile + hug*

Sam,
wanting to comment your pics
forced me to find the equivalent words in english
to express my german thoughts.
I hope that it was not too often a mis-take or “de-la-salade”.
Lucky you, YOUR language needs no words.
Adoration and thank
from

I can't believe tomorrow is the last day, already! I'll miss coming to your website every day, Sam.

Will you be keeping the website up? I only heard about your site in 2010 and would like to go back through all the photos from day 1!

Posted by Sam at July 3, 2013 11:03 AM

Thanks for the many years of daily pictures. It truly has been inspiring!

Posted by Norm at July 3, 2013 11:03 AM

Dear Sam,

it really was a pretty good time with ddoi every morning.
One photo every day.
Just ONE picture to see and to concentrate on and to think about.
An experience in our world and it’s barrage of images.
Mostly I stayed longer, much longer than the proverbal one second
(as proof of a "good" picture; who - the hell - said this?) and made eye-walks in the square.
At some days I came back several times to your blog
and always my thoughts or feelings had changed a little bit
or I found a new detail in the picture
or another consideration ...
Thank you for all this!

Barbara

PS
best of all :
they say my own photos became better.
as we say in Germany :
"contact parts color"
(good friends bear good fruits)
:-))

Hi Sam,
I found your site back in 2009 when someone on a "Forever Knight" discussion list posted a link. I've been visiting ever since, and I just wanted you to know how much I've enjoyed your photographs. Thank you so much for sharing!

Posted by Nancy at July 3, 2013 03:14 PM

Hi Sam,
I've been a nearly daily reader for over 5 years. Thank you for contributing such wonderful content for so long. I'm going to miss this.

Posted by Jeremy at July 3, 2013 04:21 PM

My Kiwi brother-in-law lives north of Toronto. In a strange way DDOI helps us keep in touch with him in Canada as we see the passing of the seasons through your magnificent talent.

You also inspire us all to pursue quality photography in everyday things.

We will miss your daily posts very much and will be sad to lose this link unique with Canada.

All the best Sam.

Thank you for all this!

O Sam, what irony! So many of those that have loved your photos are trying to express their gratitude with mere words -- I also thank you. Today we bought a graduation present for my daughter (a graduate of the University of Toronto) at her request, a camera. She also followed your site. For five years we keep watch over her and her city from a distance through your work. Grace to you in your next journey; "we meet our destiny on the road we take to avoid it."

Thanks for all the years of photos, Sam! Glad to have bumped into you on the street while you were shooting last year. All the best on your next adventure!

Posted by Janet at July 3, 2013 10:05 PM

I remember months ago you said DDOI was ending and I was sad then. I'm even more sad now that that day is tomorrow. I have you followed on FB and will follow you where ever you end up! Best of luck in your future endeavors and don't keep the lens cap on.
