Amazing lighting and the overall look and feel of this portrait is amazing. I also like very much the slightly surreal expression of the model.

Wonderful portrait!

That is a hot picture. I especially like how you captured his hands on his mouth so the picture is not perfectly set up and more personal. He looks like he is reacting to something happening on the right there.

Love it! Nice detail and toning.

First time I've seen you do a portrait. Very nice. I'm sure the shadows are richer and deeper in the print than on the web.

Very different from your usual and wonderful imagery. Very nice portrait.

....way to release the "Karsh" in you!

Great portrait. For those readers who reside outside Canada, Peter Mansbridge is the anchor of the main CBC news broadcast "The National". Kind of like Walter Cronkite and Brian Williams rolled into one.

Karsh is not a bad comparsion, Linda (btw. : i LIKE your comments!)
but a Javanrouh is a Javanrouh is a Javanrouh... :-)
and this studio-work is a very new facet of his abilities he shows to us.
go on, Sam, go on.
this concerned looking man on the photo seems to me a very-very-very good characterization of this strong personality.
although i heard his name today for the first time and can only judge by what i've seen on you tube.

Sam: Your skill and creativity are well known to anyone who has ever visited this site. One of the things that I would like to highlight and thank you for is your willingness to share your insights and experience with everyone. Your lighting setup for the Mansbridge shoot is but one example. In particular, in the earlier years of the site (when you clearly had more time: e.g. pre-kids) when you ran a forum you spent countless hours on things like step-by-step photoshop explanations for some of your work. That is the sort of thing that sets you apart as a person and I'm sure that most of us site visitors would agree. For all of us, thanks!
