You were talking of Toronto, on the north side of the Antartica, huh ?
Posted by Tatou at January 20, 2004 03:14 AMThese photos are part of the reason you got my vote :)
Posted by seriocomic at January 20, 2004 04:56 AMI came here because of the Bloggies - already I'm hugely impressed with the photos, and yes, you did get my vote.
Good luck in the Bloggies, and keep up the imagery. I'm now off to flog my camera, as there's no way I'm this good. *Grin*
Posted by Lyle at January 20, 2004 06:32 AMIt seems you missed the 'Hot Sun' of tehran sooo much! :P
Posted by ila at January 20, 2004 07:14 AMand that's why birds fly south in the winter...
Posted by m a z i a r at January 20, 2004 08:47 AMbeautiful scapes!! esp. the last one.
Posted by someone out there at January 20, 2004 08:47 AMbeautiful, i love the second one.
Posted by effat at January 20, 2004 09:18 AMI'd say you succeeded in your attempt to make warm (and beautiful) images of a cold place. Trying to select a favorite has proven difficult.. I like them all. And congrats on the nomination--hope you make it.
Posted by White Chocolate at January 20, 2004 09:44 AMBeautiful.
Posted by cloudshift at January 20, 2004 09:50 AMAbsolutely wonderful!!
I wish I could be there seeing the scene myself.
Ah, I recognize that beautiful sky...I happened to be a bit west of you (near Harbourfront)photographing the same day (Sunday). I couldn't stop shooting! Congrats on the nomination, you've got my vote. :) Carrie
Posted by Carrie at January 20, 2004 12:17 PMi like the last one! ^___^ i wonder of those birds in the water are cold xD hehehe
i voted for you! =DD
Posted by ecila at January 20, 2004 01:44 PM... and God said, "Let it be cold". And He saw that it was and so He moved to Florida where He now operates a Falafel stand.
I'll never complain about living in Philadelphia again.
btw, you got my vote. You had me at hello.
This is my neighbourhood, I see these scenes everyday - and you captured them SO well. Nice work. And we have GOT to have a conversation about colour balance. My shots of the same thing look drab... you better win the Bloggies!
Posted by Scott Murdoch at January 20, 2004 02:58 PMbeautiful, I really like the clouds!
Posted by Todd at January 20, 2004 05:01 PMBeautiul shots; I like the second one a lot.
Congrats on the nomination - you get my vote. :)
the ending scene of the 3rd chapter of 'A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man' depicts a girl standing on the beach, gazing at the sea. James Joyce reaches one of the 5 epiphanies of the book through Stephen Dedalus in this very scene. the setting is dublin, 1930s, autumn.
yet, you took me there again with the last pic. i might, therefore, vote for you. but that's just maybe. :-)))
I came here by accident. I mean, not completely by accident, I happened to be in the bloggies, and saw ur blog there. Among all the nominees I preferred u for being so pure, sincere and more like a real blog(according to what I think a blog should be of course!!!). Also, I like the name, Daily Doze of.... Then, I decided to read some of the comments and ............vaaay khodaaye man, it seems that the photographer/blogger is an Iranian. Im really happy to find u here, im impressed with the photos and wish u success.
Posted by Soheila at January 20, 2004 06:03 PMwooh, shot 3... w!cked
best photoblog nomination at the bloggies? SheayaeahhhhhH! Canada repreSENT! You're taking this one. Congrats.
Posted by pat reardon at January 20, 2004 11:50 PMI live near here and come often, however in winter the cold scares me away. Maybe I ought to try sometime, if the temperature goes above -20 C. Great shots.
Posted by Keith Fox at January 21, 2004 09:18 AMWho knew Ashbridge's bay could look so... Canadian. Beautiful shots.
Posted by Danielle at January 21, 2004 10:11 AMbrilliant.
Posted by scott. at January 21, 2004 11:01 AMBeing in Toronto right now I can tell you that beautiful it may be, but it's also bloody bloody freezing and is far too cold to go outside.
Posted by katie at January 21, 2004 12:16 PMA couple of question's for Tatou:
Do you mean Antarctica?
Isn't the whole planet north of Antarctica?
Hopefully all the people laughing at us for our Arctic weather will return in six months to catch a glimpse of our amazing summer weather.
Lovin the site, have already voted for you.
The "birds" are swans, and no, they are not cold. There is a fabulous professional photo used as advert showing a resting flock buried almost beyond noticing in snow. They do also migrate for the winter, sometimes covering Lake Matamuskeet NC as if was under snow. It's the "chick" who is cold!
The notion of "warm" winter photos is wonderful, as is most of this collection.
really amazing! your work is part of my personal daily inspiration...
Cheers!
months after the fact, logged onto bloggies to vote for you, would have. You have an elemental ability to capture the beauty of sky and snow. Here, we get both.
Posted by Claude Garmon at September 2, 2004 05:42 PM_very_ nice. I like the bottom one particularly, the sillhouettedm man almost seems mysterious!
