it's strange that streetscenes like this are not scandalous
but common
in big cities of rich countries
all over the world
touching work, Sam
a message that needs no words
.
That is heartbreaking. :(
Posted by Nat at February 20, 2013 11:15 AMThis guy might not even be homeless, it's the same guy every few days/week, new shoes, clean feet, just complains about cops screwing his stuff up with his chalk. He's one of the few that get no piety from me. I've seen homeless in Toronto, if he is, he does very well for himself.

Posted by Ugur Gundogmus at February 20, 2013 10:01 PMif i would be poor, hungry and cold
if i would belong to "the other half"
i would not lay there.
i think i would be looking for a more sheltered place,
would'nt you?
i thought a lot about this photograph after reading Sam's (the commentor's) comment.
is it not (only) poverty that makes him lay in the middle of the street.
looks like a kind of protest.
or - sorry - delibrate provocation.
he is not covered with tatter.
consider the striking place where he couches himself.
makes "bourgeois" cell-phone-users take a loop-way
Sam (the photograper), what a profound and enigmatic pic you presented us?
social criticism
but
where is the focus...?
