I remember you mentioning you would be calling it quits earlier in the year and I'm still saddened that you're planning on closing down. Your blog is one of the few that I look forward to seeing each and every day. Your photography is truly amazing and when the time comes for you to close DDOI down it will sorely be missed.

On a side note I do hope that you plan on putting together more photography books. I already own copies of the three that you have put out and have been eagerly awaiting the announcement that another was on the way.

For now keep up the great work and I'm looking forward to see what you put up next.

Very, very sad to hear you'll be moving away from ddoi mate. I've followed your blog religiously for nearly two years and it's become a firm part of my daily routine. You have certainly put in a formidable effort to do this every day for 10 years. While I haven't been able to visit absolutely every day it has been an enjoyable place to go when the thought and time allows. Surprising how even these short moments consume tune.
So a track to an unseen future seems an approprate image for the first day of the last part of this journey. I will be waiting to see what it is.

This is quite near my house, just south of it. I enjoy walking through the woods and rails in my area. With all the light-industrial and low income housing, it's sort of the closest thing to a rundown ghetto we have around here, so it's quite easy to get faux-pocalyptic pictures with the wooded areas dotted around.

Sam, Thanks for the gift you give us each and every day. That you've been able to do this as long as you have -- or even just posting an occasional shot -- is truly remarkable. You've done more to help me connect to the city that I adopted and make it my true home. Your blog has inspired me to discover Toronto in new ways and to do so with open eyes. Your blog has revealed to me the beauty in the most pedestrian moments -- a cyclist, a pool of water from the rain, a streetcar, leaves on the grass, anything.

Our city is amazing, but also a busy and often hectic place and your blog reminds us all to take pause, even for a moment, to enjoy the beauty that comes from the fast and slow that is all around us.

You've also inspired me to take pictures. I used to take photos occasionally, but have now sought to become better at documenting my world. I have no aspirations to become a pro or even advanced amateur, but seeing your photos gets me to re-imagine ways to make simple pictures more exciting.

While I will miss this when it ends in July, the gifts that you have already given to us and will over the next six months are enough for a lifetime and I wish you well in starting up new projects. Sometimes its important to drop the curtain on our art to make sure we can raise a new one on different projects that allow us to create new art.

I hear you about 2012 being a hard year and hope that whatever challenges it posed they make 2013 better in every way.

I have left Canada for 3 years now. Your blog and your great photographs have been my only window to the places I miss so much. And it's closing... .
