Comments: New Year

I remember you mentioning you would be calling it quits earlier in the year and I'm still saddened that you're planning on closing down. Your blog is one of the few that I look forward to seeing each and every day. Your photography is truly amazing and when the time comes for you to close DDOI down it will sorely be missed.

On a side note I do hope that you plan on putting together more photography books. I already own copies of the three that you have put out and have been eagerly awaiting the announcement that another was on the way.

For now keep up the great work and I'm looking forward to see what you put up next.

i send you a shower of thanks and good thoughts and wishes, Sam.
you made me read, better : feel in pictures,
evoking emotions and memories.
but also discovering "uncharted waters".
and hence you forced me to express myself in a foreign language and to battle for finding the right words.

but this sounds like a funeral eulogy!
there are 184 days, 184 photographs, 184 daily adventures ahead!
let's tackle it! ;-))

future - future - future - future ...

I don't comment very often but never miss a day of your wonderful photos. I challenge other silent readers to show their appreciation during these final months.

Happy new year to you and your family, Sam!

Very, very sad to hear you'll be moving away from ddoi mate. I've followed your blog religiously for nearly two years and it's become a firm part of my daily routine. Thanks so much for all your input here, it's been an excellent source of inspiration for my own photography and I owe a lot to you for that.

I'm so excited to hear what you have in store for 2013. I can't wait to hear the different ways I'll have to keep up with your photography. Sincere best wishes from the UK. All the best!

Finch.

You have certainly put in a formidable effort to do this every day for 10 years. While I haven't been able to visit absolutely every day it has been an enjoyable place to go when the thought and time allows. Surprising how even these short moments consume tune.
So a track to an unseen future seems an approprate image for the first day of the last part of this journey. I will be waiting to see what it is.
A very Happy New Year to you and family.

For the past 6 years I have looked eagerly every morning or during the day to see
your daily photo and think they are all wonderful.
Thank you for this creative work. I wish you and your family all the best in 2013.

I love ddoi and have followed it for years. It was one of the first blogs I ever started following. Your images are captivating. I hate to see it end. Thanks for sharing your skills with us.

Gorgeous shot.

This is quite near my house, just south of it. I enjoy walking through the woods and rails in my area. With all the light-industrial and low income housing, it's sort of the closest thing to a rundown ghetto we have around here, so it's quite easy to get faux-pocalyptic pictures with the wooded areas dotted around.

Wish you a happy new year. May the rails we are riding on lead to a great year.

I have been an avid follower of your blog since i heard of it in 2008. It has taught me a lot about photography. I wish DDOI continue but all good things come to an end i guess. Hoping to see your photographs in the future.

Sam, Thanks for the gift you give us each and every day. That you've been able to do this as long as you have -- or even just posting an occasional shot -- is truly remarkable. You've done more to help me connect to the city that I adopted and make it my true home. Your blog has inspired me to discover Toronto in new ways and to do so with open eyes. Your blog has revealed to me the beauty in the most pedestrian moments -- a cyclist, a pool of water from the rain, a streetcar, leaves on the grass, anything.

Our city is amazing, but also a busy and often hectic place and your blog reminds us all to take pause, even for a moment, to enjoy the beauty that comes from the fast and slow that is all around us.

You've also inspired me to take pictures. I used to take photos occasionally, but have now sought to become better at documenting my world. I have no aspirations to become a pro or even advanced amateur, but seeing your photos gets me to re-imagine ways to make simple pictures more exciting.

While I will miss this when it ends in July, the gifts that you have already given to us and will over the next six months are enough for a lifetime and I wish you well in starting up new projects. Sometimes its important to drop the curtain on our art to make sure we can raise a new one on different projects that allow us to create new art.

I hear you about 2012 being a hard year and hope that whatever challenges it posed they make 2013 better in every way.

I have left Canada for 3 years now. Your blog and your great photographs have been my only window to the places I miss so much. And it's closing... . I will be standing by this window til the last second. Keep up the good work and thank you so much for your posts. I wish you luck in future projects.

You have been a positive part of my day, most days. I know it takes effort to keep this up. I wish you well, and hope you will share your gift at whatever frequency or form you feel like. Thank you

This is one of the very sites I ever found once I got online, and have been following for all of that time since. I have had the dual honours of both meeting you IRL and making it onto one of your daily posts. I have your works decorating my walls, and I have recommended the site whenever possible. Above all that is the enjoyment of seeing my city through the photographers eye.

Thank you for your decade of doses, and the best of luck on your newer, bigger, and better projects!

I am an Australian expat who has followed your blog for years. I had the good fortune to spend a month in Blue Jays Way and half the trip was about tagging the spots in your photo blog. Thank you so much for your efforts. It's been greatly appreciated.

You might never meet me, but it's all good.. Just wanted to let you know you got a fan in Fullerton, CA. Look me up anytime sir!
