Comments: Lady and the Light

this pic is
on 1st view : a perfect composition in b/w
on 2nd view : a mild punch in the gut.
whatever she makes sitting there
she's exhausted
and maybe she has pain.
on 3rd view : a pic to reflect on.
growing old is not funny and not made for cowards.
but on the other hand
by growing old you develop a never known special kind of inner strenght and self-composure and dispassionateness and -yes- sangfroid
... when pains are not too great.
Sam, thank you for your watchful observant "eye"

This is one of those captured moments that, were I there, I might pass without looking or look briefly without considering. However, captured here in black and white I have to keep looking and really looking.

could be a frame of a Hitchcock movie!

paint it in sober, muted colors
oil on canvas
and you get a "genuine" Edward-Hopper-picture
full of well composed urban loneliness and alienation .
this is one of your best, Sam.
