Comments: Union Station

But isn't gritty realism what the tourists are after. To be fair their is a major reno going on at Union Station. I hope it extends to the TTC.

It's been 10 years since I've been to Toronto, I live vicariously through your photos Sam. So sad to see the subway stations decline.

To be fair, that wall is bare because they're about to demolish it and put in a second platform. The construction equipment is in place above.

Love the shot, it's great. But processing it this way to look gritty and then saying "most subway stations"? That's unfair. Even this one doesn't look this bad when you're standing there!

New York would pine for such opulence.

Gritty is truth, the subway has aged, so what? It has a history preserved in those walls. Why is that negative? The platform is clean and the shiny flat screen tv looks to be in good working order. To me this picture reveals the wonderful mystery of the stories it 'doesn't' tell.

Thanks Sam for this picture! IMO it looks much better in you B&W photo, in reality it is even worst! who says subway walls should preserve history? (what history btw?) that's the function for museum walls, not subway platforms of a modern city like Toronto, check out cities like London, Singapore or even Moscow. they are even older and 'preserve' the 'history' much better.
