Comments: Beach House and the Plane

The balance in this image is just superb, and the plane adds that little extra thing thats so important :-)

Nice picture! It's quite the scene of seasonal abandonment.

Have to say, I like it better if you crop at about 1cm (at the web resolution) below the plane. The angle of the clouds draws you into the picture and the scene has one subject. Looking at the whole picture, I find the plane distracting and end up focusing on the negative space rather than any single subject.

Well Zeke may not like the plane but to me it's another example of how serendipity or God's will has you in the right place at the right moment. I like all the clouds here which are a lovely balance and the clarity of the plane is extraordinary. Then the softness of the beach house and its surroundings are gentle in the shadows.
I like it as you found it, Sam. Great!

You never seem to use your 5D mk11 anymore .. Why is that? Your photo's are missing the beautiful tones of that camera. Still great work, but something seems to be missing.

I agree with Zeke. The photo is beautiful but, for me, has 2 focal points: the closed up house and the plane. I'd like to see what this image would be like without the plane. As is, I'm pulled in 2 directions and, for me, that lessens the impact of an otherwise gorgeous shot. The colors of the clouds and the contrast of the softness of the clouds with the angularity of the building are striking. Thanks, Sam.
