Complex variations, with balance, simplicity, quiet progressions.
The subject matter is another of your fantastic urban captures. Serene, dreamy, almost abstract in its classicism.
The rigid order of the modern windows at the back could make the picture a touch remote, but with the road, the warm dark brick, and the curvy light standards bringing us so gently there from the foreground, there's some kind of rhythmic movement in and up, then back forward, again and again -- how did you do that? And the harmonious juxtapositions make it look like a city that has totally aced the old/new thing. I want to live there, and look at this.
The colours, the surface patterns, the composition, are all wonderful and mutually reinforcing.

Posted by Frans at January 5, 2011 04:09 PMReally interesting perspective. That lavender building is great looking color shift and works really well in this light. You'll need to go back when the construction behind it is finished and then the lavender will really make it better.
Nice record of good visual changes.
And you holding tight on the spot with trucks bearing down - well they may be stopped, but the effect is great.
