Comments: eclipse of 2010

Great effect putting the individual shots in a grid! I was out there too taking some shots. Nothing as spectacular as these, however.

How did you shoot that? What camera and what lens did you use and what were the settings? Please reply. Thanks.

Susan.

Spectacular! Thanks for sharing... with those of us who forgot to set our alarms to get up and see it :)

An amazing record of a lunar eclipse coinciding with the winter solstice for the first time in 456 years.

Hi Sam,
I always look forward to your settings in the title attribute of the images. Though they weren't listed for the eclipse. Can you provide them?

Thanks!
Denny

This is real cool. Wish I would have seen this. Apparently it was cloudy in Ottawa that night so a lot of people missed it. Nice capture!

Sam:

Lovely set of shots. I got a couple just after my wife woke me from a deep and dreamless sleep. And they look it, too. Thanks particularly for the shooting details.

amazing series!! i woke up at 4am that day and saw the moon high in the sky, as the shadow was receding. The amber-light ambiance was incredible.

Did you get any in orange between 3:41 AM and 4:53 AM?

Posted by Yongbo at December 22, 2010 04:03 PM

I couldn't hack it, I was too tired. I really wanted to get the phases too. Love the grid. Thanks for the settings.

Did you use spot meter?

Great shots.
You are very lucky, we had cloud cover the whole night, and couldn't see or photograph a thing.

Also, I think the times on the photos are supposed to be 1:23 to 2:37 EST. The covering started around 1:30 and the moon was completely covered by 2:40.

Wow. That looks amazing. I sadly couldn't even see the Eclipse that night as it was cloudy out here in Ohio and we couldn't see anything at all.
