A busy street - but where is all the cars?

Posted by Catarina at February 5, 2010 02:28 AM

I don't like this one. The long focal and framing of the street is good, the cops add some subject value, but the jaywalker completely messes it up. He's in an awkward stride, going the wrong direction, and causes a visual confusion of where the photos' subject/focal point is...somehow this photo feels confusing and incongruous. And in that, it's "reassuring" because so many of the photos on daily dose are just too damn good!

Loved the colors and urban harmony. Where was this taken?

Beautiful shot! Really colorful.

Trouble with this shot is that there is no explanation of why two cops would block a street with bicycles. What is goin on here?

Very interesting. A lot going on here, well captured.

I like this! The foreshortened perspective, the depth, the colors, the people, the action, the cops ignoring the jaywalkers...lots of stories in this photo.

They're blocking the street because there's been 14 pedestrian deaths in Toronto in 2010 and it's only the 2nd month!!!
