At first, when I saw the video thumbnail, I thought, "The photo looks much better..." But after watching the video, I have a more non-commital answer: the photo's tone is good for the photo, the video's tone is good for the video.

I think I like the warmer colours (video) better, makes it seem like ou're taking the ferry as the sun is starting to get low.

i like it better in the muted colors of the picture! it looks colder to me like that. however, the video is amazing regardless.

The first one is definitively the better one. The sky is really expressive and the clouds don't seems yellow.

The yellow cast on the video would be distracting on the still shot, but works fine with moving footage. Don't change a thing!

I prefer the photos color correction. It is more stark and wintery. It gives it that colder feeling.

I prefer the muted, darker sky version of the image. The contrast pops more, and although the whole picture looks colder, the city has a warmth that the video doesn't show. Blame it on the greener cast of the video.

Sorry if I'm voting for the older one! I'm still all about growth! :P

The colours of the image are far more dramatic and artificial and personally I like them more tham the natural colours of the video. The colours of the video shouldn't be like the image colours as well as the less sharpness, which I think suits the video well in it's natural experience of the trip. The music underneath is cool!

Interesting difference in color! Personally, I'd prefer the photo's processing; a little less saturation really works for me on a scene like that.

I think the photo does... it gives it a more dreary sort of feel (which is the sort of feeling I associate with winter and cold). The video is nice though but it seems more cheery.

Awesome capture Sam. The fragmented ice in the foreground makes the shot work for me. I prefer the tone of the still. I think the vid. would be more dramatic with it.

Quite preferred the tone in the video. Although as a still the colour correction used, I think, sets the mood quite well.

Very cool video... it's totally personal preference but I like the yellow tone in the video better than the photo, it seems to add a bit of desired warmth (I get cold just looking at that water)

The Photo really has a good cold feel to it. The video is also very good, somewhat eerie.

Nice one Sam. In terms of colour corrections prefs, I love the top one. It screams our "daily dose of imagery" to me. The bottom one however looks closer to reality and what you might have actually been seeing through the viewfinder. My two cents ;)

Nice video! Video is a lot more warmer than the photo above it. i think the photo works better given the setting but the video is also compelling. How did you stabilize the camera?

I like the tone of the first one better, but not once I see the video.

The colors are so different it almost seems hard to believe they were shot at the same time. In the still shot it doesn't look like there is any sun at all, but in the video it does. After watching the video I prefer that, it looks just like that weak sunlight of winter.

I really like the video, and im a bit partial to warmer tones, but i think the picture might have a more appropriate tone for the season

I love the sky in the video, but the buildings look so cold and majestic in the picture. Sooo nice ;D

I think the higher contrast of the still shot is closer to reality but the softer contrast of the video also looks natural in its own right. These were taken at the same time? What difference would processing now instead of then make? I'm not familiar with the 'processes' and would find it good to know.

the photo colors really accentuate the coldness-- the warmer blues in the video (and the cheesy effect at the beginning next to the boat-induced pan across the ice, and the power point text effect at the end) make it look like some terrible insurance company commercial or something...

it **really** looks like it's trying to sell me something by denying the obvious coldness...

That was my way to work every day for many years when I was a Parks employee. What you do not get from this video is the terrific noise you hear as the ice scrapes along the hull of the Ongiara as it moves. The colder it gets, the thicker the ice, the slower you go and the louder the noise.

I much prefer the photo. It looks much crisper, colder. The other one looks a bit dirtier, like the ice is dirty with something (I think that's ust some noticeably warm hues in the colour)

the video looks almost as if animated ... whereas the picture is so crisp & cold ... i wont say which is a better color correction but ... both look amazing!

i think i've commented before that i like your new more colorful style of processing.

Sam, you should think about making a movie! I guarantee your success.

I have a tendency to correct with a blue cast to get clarity in my photos, then to add warmth I add a bit of sepia. Two folks have said the vimeo has a creepy Day After feel. That's because there has been actual manipulation of our light on earth with an ugly "the-sun-is-dying" yellow cast. The music adds to that and you end up telling His Story, not ours. You can tell His Story for archival purposes but be sure you know the difference and are making your own choice. There are dozens of layers of frequency in an image. Take out the bad and you have something amazing, something not seen before by people.

I like the dark gray blue better than the green/blue - it gives it more of a "city on ice" feel than a "oh - well, that's an interesting shot of a city on the lake."

I can't say which I like better. There is something lovely about both versions. I do like the music you used with the video though, it adds a different dimension to the images.

WOW I love them both! I liked the video as is but would think it would be pretty awesome to see it with a similar tone as the picture.

I really liked the video though, like a lot of your winter shots of this lake, it had a very half-life like feel to it! Especially with that background noise!

LOVE, love, love that video. Wish it was much longer. So calming. I quite like the colour tone of the video and prefer it to the still.
