wow ...
Posted by olli at November 23, 2009 06:35 AMGrain is good! It adds a certain nostalgic charm, cinema verite to the photos, old school photo journalism, etc.
Posted by gbc at November 23, 2009 08:05 AMgo Movember!
Posted by fm at November 23, 2009 09:42 AMLove it. I agree with your favorable opinion of the grain-like noise. It creates the atmosphere of the photo. As always, great eye.
Posted by Sarah at November 23, 2009 10:35 AMa genuine kiss :)
Posted by Hadi at November 23, 2009 10:47 AMI cant say that I see the 'grain' here. Surely a huge difference from the days I'd push 200 ASA film to get something like 800-1000 ASA equivalent. Huge grain from that. Even then it was what was possible so you would forgive a lot of grain to get anything. This is quite commercial quality as I see it on my HP laptop. It struck me as being quite 1920ish in subject style. Like a movie promo shot or ? Good one, Sam.
Posted by Hugh Petrie at November 23, 2009 11:02 AMGreat shot! What beautiful dress. :D
Posted by Michelle at November 23, 2009 11:06 AMWow!!!!!!! A hot shot in a cool medium. It's perfect!!!!!!!!!
Posted by Barbara M at November 23, 2009 12:21 PMGreat shot Sam! I love film grain, but usually hate digital noise- not here!
Posted by Zac at November 23, 2009 01:15 PMCute.
Posted by Pop9 at November 23, 2009 01:16 PMI really like your blog. I really like your art and photography.
BUT, I'm sorry, this looks nothing like grain but completely like noise.
(I always say nice things here but I really had to say this, not being a meannie, just had to. Sorry again.)
A really nice shot and I agree with you about the "noise"
Posted by Frida at November 23, 2009 02:48 PMA real classic shot Sam. This has instantly become a favourite now. The grain (noise) adds character to the picture too in my opinion.
Posted by Jason at November 23, 2009 05:08 PMIf it wasn't for the grain, it would look like a daylight shot, with the sun coming in from the window in the background.
Posted by John at November 23, 2009 05:26 PMAwesome shot mate - timeless, and you've captured some great emotion there. I think the noise looks like grain. I remember pushing 400ASA to 1600ASA for a similar effect.. love your work buddy.
Posted by Dave at November 23, 2009 06:27 PMA few years ago I had a Canon 300D that could stretch to ISO (on the dial). It was absolutely unusable and any image at that setting was deleted.
ISO6400 amazes me. Here is is, a quite presentable image. Sure it would not be A3 sized, but in an album this would be great.
Posted by ROB at November 23, 2009 09:02 PMI LOVE this photo! You caught the kiss at the perfect instant. The grain is fine.
A great photo!
Posted by Joan at November 23, 2009 10:34 PMThis is a beautiful shot - I'm sure the noise is a positive in this instance, adding to the image rather than detracting.
Posted by Murray at November 23, 2009 10:41 PMBeautiful. So natural. Way to capture a great moment.
Posted by Tara at November 24, 2009 12:01 AMI think this is gorgeous! I love photographs that capture candid moments like this one. You are brilliant at what you do and I enjoy every visit I make to your website.
Posted by Alex at November 24, 2009 02:55 PMwith noise or without noise.. whatever..for me this photo is really artistic and romantic ;)
it looks like the whole world stopped in this one second:)
Looks like a photo from an old classic movie.
Posted by PowerPoint Templates at November 25, 2009 08:17 AMVery tender. Grain can be your friend. Nice.
