Beautifully posed, and even better, taught me something I did not know about the city.
My reaction to your image was "super-imposed!", brought about by the CN Tower peeking coyly from behind the flat-iron.
In my min, the thin-end-of-the-wedge was at the WESTern end of the building.
I had to resort to Google Maps to re-assure myself that the thin end of the building is at the eastern end, and then of course, the flat end with its trompe d' oeuil(?) came back to me.
After all, I only walked past the building 52 times in one year!
Great work. I love seeing part of Toronto daily.

I love those bulb exposures. Awesome picture with the skyscrapers in the background. I think there is a type under the picture. You mean flatiron.. =)

Nice nightscape. The big dobs of light are interesting as is the CN tower seemingly peaking 'round the edge.

Did you mean 'flatiron'?

This is definitely one of the best images of the Flatiron building that I have seen. It's beautifully done.

Very nice image. I like the well lit foreground building against the darker building in the background. A pleasure to look at.

When did they start lighting up the flatiron? Looks like the restoration is all done since I was last in T.O.

Beautiful shot Sam. The drawn out tail lights leading the eye towards the flatiron standing centre stage. I quite like it.

Nice one Sam!
Hard to get an original shot of the most photographed view in Toronto.
Were the colours enhanced?

It seems that CN Tower was spying on you when you took the photo:)

Your photos are so amazing. Everything is always so crisp and clean and huge. I love the blur of the cars adding movement to the portrait of street.

Love the juxtaposition of the old against the new!

Posted by Ricki at November 11, 2009 09:03 PM

Wow! that is the max. Totally perfect. Trying to find 6 seconds that are safe where you were looks hard. I'm surprised at the 100 ISO and wonder if you shoot with higher ISO to compare the noise?

Posted by Hugh Petrie at November 11, 2009 10:24 PM

Love this one! The old against the new and motion of the headlights and tail lights are fantastic.

Stunning image I think the building in the foreground is beautiful and strange :-) What is it used for? Is it an apartment building or office building? Gorgeous image!

Great framing, that building seems so small in contraposition with the giant on the background. Wonderful lights too.
