Comments: soccer and the city

Long before the DVP was only a twinkle in the eye of Toronto Roads Dept., I used to play here. During winter, the hill was turned into toboggan chutes. We lived in the tenements on Flagler St. off of Sackville Pl. We would cross over the old stone bridge, which was a few meters south of the current pedestrian bridge over the Don to get to the Broadview side. In October of '54 Hurrican Hazel inundated the entire valley with many feet of water. It was an incredible sight to see.

I'd hate to think what Toronto would be like without the large park areas full of trees. Good shot of the city's up values.

That track to the left is where i began my personal running journey and i'm still going stromng! Although i've 'outgrown' the track now...

Robert- i enjoy reading about Toronto's past, thanks for sharing what the area used to be like.
