Shiny! The old washed new! Beautiful surface light, ancient street material buffed clean, fresh promise in the emptiness of the street, in the sharpness of morning sun and cloud and in the detail of the crane, some just-goofy-enough newsboxes for colour and personality and -- followed by the parade of arches -- to offset the discipline of the straight lines; the role of the renegade blue box in defying the perspective and picking up the blue-sky-and-clouds motif:
the excellence of this photo is a lot about composition and technique, but also a lot about subject matter.
Sam, thanks for another iconic Toronto street-shot that tells a lot about cities and a lot about you.

The street is paved with golden sunlight. Beautiful.

This is 'classic' Toronto, or at least a perfect image of our 'clean' city, bit I wonder what is going on in those buildings. Aside from the excellent composition, I love the contrast between the old and new buildings and the suggestion of the future as the crane is slightly positioned skyward.

Beautifull picture. i love it. I like how you framed the tram lines. and the sun light looks cool on the tarmac.
