love the contrast of the old of the Distillery buildings and the new condos. Great shot.

Such a beautiful light!

this picture is one of my all time favorites of yours, and i've been following this site for years.

Nice colours, the contrast between blue sky and red brick is very nice.

Wow, incredible colours, contrast and sharpness. I love it!

I can't explain it, but you captured everything here. It's too perfect!! Composition, lighting, old vs. new, tones. This is one for your next book! Keep the shutter going. I look everyday since 2006!

Thanks, yet again, for making my morning with a beautiful shot. Unfortunately I am one of those "I may not know art but I know what I like" so I probably couldn't explain why I like this so much. I just do.

Posted by lisa at April 28, 2009 08:57 AM

Wow. It doesn't get better than that... with the bird, even.

Posted by Jeremy Sales at April 28, 2009 09:16 AM

Wow Sam, this is stunning!

Posted by Kimberly Way at April 28, 2009 09:26 AM

what an amazing composition with that freezy bird, the light is simply outstanding

Posted by BoB at April 28, 2009 09:57 AM

That is a great shot. I love the colors.

Wow this is truly breathtaking!

Fabulous moment!
The distillery has never looked so good.

I love your work. And this is particularly striking!

Posted by dan! at April 28, 2009 12:23 PM

I love the way the sun flares at the bottom of the building. The colors in this make it look almost hyper-real. I'm a big fan of this one.

Posted by Frank at April 28, 2009 12:24 PM

Great timing! That bird looks so cool. And the lightning "parfait".

Posted by bogdan at April 28, 2009 12:45 PM

wow! this picture is incredible! i like the clarity of the picture.
i like how there is a transition from the reds and browns up into the whites and blues. the sunlight is a nice addition to the transition as well. great perspective.

amazing!

Posted by caro at April 28, 2009 01:32 PM

Fantastic image! The capture of the bird in flight, light, colors, tones-perfect!

Posted by Susan at April 28, 2009 02:37 PM

This is one of the most amazing shots I have seen, it is so surreal.

Posted by Mark Tustin at April 28, 2009 02:45 PM

Great shot - has a little of everything; the bird, the old red brick buildings, the new urban office building, a little HDR to bring out the brickwork (?), and a beautiful sky with wonderful understated sunlight in the foreground. Really like this one a lot. Good work.

A totally magical, perfect shot, Sam. And short of a bit of fancy photoshop to add a bird, seems Allah has done you a favour again by putting it their for you. I get lucky once in a while.

Posted by Hugh Petrie at April 28, 2009 07:18 PM

wow, nice job waiting for the light and the bird.

Posted by Bob at April 28, 2009 07:19 PM

Very nice. It appears as if the image has had a mild HDR treatment. Is that the case Sam? And did you correct lens distortions within Photoshop or did you use a 3rd Party plugin?

Also - how does the full frame sensor go at the 12mm end? Im thinking about getting one (either that or a 15mm FE).

Congrats again on a fine image. :)

stunning symmetry & light!

Posted by ettagirl at April 28, 2009 09:29 PM

Love it - lighting, colours, crystal clear (especially the bird), composition. I've shot in the distillery district a few times - that new tower definitely adds some new angles and contrast.

May I ask what you were shooting with and settings. How much post processing (if any) ?

Posted by pjmixer at April 29, 2009 08:52 AM

This is amazing, Sam! I love that there are bricks everywhere. The red sidewalk is what does it for me, really. And the light.

Posted by Alexandra at April 30, 2009 07:33 PM

Great work, I like your wide angel photos.

Posted by Gabor Varga at May 1, 2009 06:01 AM

Nice wide angle! really like this green cube :-)

Posted by Dirk Essl at May 2, 2009 03:03 PM

Fantastic impression. The contrast between the red stones and the blue sky is just awesome. The dove makes it perfect.
