Comments: biker in rain

Please show more rainy photos. They're typically my favorite shots! Keep up the great work.

couldn't agree with you more

So my question to you then is, how do you protect your camera in the rain?

Posted by Dani Cela at April 13, 2009 01:02 AM

I'm an amateur and am always scared to take my camera out in the rain - do you cover your camera?

Posted by Craig at April 13, 2009 01:46 AM

Great. A very rich photo.

I used to feel sorry for bicyclists in rain and bad weather until I started bike commuting to work and realized that with the right rain gear, it's actually very pleasant to bike in the rain.

D'accord avec vous. Cette photo est si originale.

Agree on the bad weather is great for photography, as long as you be able to keep camera dry.
Guy looks almost like darkvader with a bicycle light on his head. Very nice image.

Do you use anything to protect your camera when shooting in the rain? I always get really paranoid to get it out when it's raining like that.

Posted by Jasper at April 13, 2009 04:54 AM

I have never found this to be true, but then maybe I'm not looking hard enough! Very nice colors indeed.

Some how I can't relate the words bad weather and rain. Here it rains in summer and they are always welcome.

Posted by navin harish at April 13, 2009 06:37 AM

nice picture...
but biking in the rain, what might be worse then that...

Posted by sesega at April 13, 2009 07:33 AM

Darth Vader on a bike? You must be joking!
Btw, there is no bad weather, only wrong clothing or an unfitting camera. In the case of the shot above, I guess you used an underwater equipment...

Posted by Markus Spring at April 13, 2009 09:02 AM

how do you keep your lens from getting rain on it?

Posted by zeek at April 13, 2009 10:20 AM

It's a good shot with all the water on his back. I've rode many miles in rain. I also spent a summer in my teens (60 years ago)with Malak Karsh, who is noted for commenting that you can't take a bad picture on a cloudy day. It does keep the contrast down, but I do more often prefer sunlight. Truth is; any weather is good if the subject is right. Rain is never bad - maybe inconvenient like ice and snow and freezing. I'm always impressed with your wet weather shots if only for the courage to go out in it.

regardless whether it's raining or not, there's always time for photography. you're an inspiration.

I've always admire how clean your photos are... love the color and the mood here. regards.

Great shot!

Rain might be good for photography but I don't think it's very good for a photographer.
For me I like to stay indoors when it rains, it sort of puts a hold on my photographic creativity and I fell compelled to grab a guitar or something. But maybe I should think about getting a waterproof house for my camera....or at least the compact.

brilliant photo! I live in Seattle and know what you mean about rainy days as golden photo opportunities.

"I love rainy days, you can get great colours and tones. Bad weather is great for photography."

Couldn't agree more! The clouds too help in getting great, diffused light. You just need proper rain gear to keep you and the gear dry! :)

Great shot by the way. I have been a follower of yours for quite a long time and I particularly love this intrinsic quality in your work where you are able to take the most distracting and colorful background elements and blend it into the image so well.

Couldn't agree more. But what is it on the top of the helmet?

rainy warrior of the street..

Living in Melbourne as I do, rain is now very precious and we delight in it when it comes. I love this shot - I don't think I would have thought to take it with only the subject's back visible. But the black against all the colours looks fantastic.

i love the rain too... they give such a romantic, colorful, livly mood to the world
beautiful capture

See, properly bad weather makes for great photography. Here in Scotland, we just get grey weather. Sure it rains, but not properly. It's half-assed. It just does it half-assedly all the time. Or is just grey and cloudy. Not good for photography.

I love the rainy photos the best! And you do them so beautifully. <3

Lol, I see the ever-present Beck is there as well.
