Comments: silo and ice

Love to know your technique. Is this HDR with some muting? Love it . Love to see a print of this. Tone throughout the sky is brilliant.

Great shot! I love the colors.. I wonder what it would have looked like if shot in horizontal..

I've been wondering why your portrait/vertical-oriented posts always end up super large compared to horizontal/landscape ones? They're great but to be forced to scroll up and down kinda bother me a bit.

amazing nostalgia, and cool marble looking lake, and I like the tone here. Not quite black and white, but almost. Have you ever been inside Canada Malting Co.? I'd bet there are tons of cool photos you could take in there.

I just looked it up, and it has some notes about this on wikipedia.

Very cool - great shot. Almost a Cohen brothers feel to this shot.

Oh god, it's fantastic. Looks like It's the 2nd Alcatraz, and the ice is the only way to get out of there. Amazing.

Really like the tones here. I've tried to shoot there a bunch of times and never come up with anything I like. This one is spot on.

I so much love those very wide angle shots! Processing is perfect, as usual...

Excellent work. I love the desaturation.

I always admire your post processing especially the perspective corrections, they really work with many images. This is an example though where perfectly vertical lines make the building seem to bulge at the top. I personally would have scaled back a tad on the perspective correction to make the building look a little more normal. Great photo though, I love your work.

Hi Sam,

Enjoy your photos very much. On your black and white photos, do you essentially take the photos in black and white or do you desaturate the color images?

Thanks. Lorrin
