Comments: ice station

Wow, I've never seen a ship that symmetrical! From the side it looks more like a giant buoy, as if it was actually round in shape.

That is an amazing shot! Looks more like a dock or something out there with the hard ice lower in the shot.

a sunny warm foto, please

Too much foreground. Needs to be cropped half way. Better as horizontal. Ferry sure is symmetrical.

This is my favourite shot of late. Really nice composition, colour and tone. I'm really liking this.

love this photo.

Hey... don't apologize for the scrolling.
The scrolling is one of the things I love about your photos and ddoi; your ability to "multiple-compose" (although this really isn't the best example of that).

Nice!
Its amazing how really cold temperatures affect the scenery. I find early mornings on very cold and clear days particularly stunning: the sun rising over these dense mists that hover just a few feet over the water surface. Not sure if this actually happens in the harbour, but definitely over the more open sections where the water is not frozen and you can see out to the horizon.

The tones, the composition, the DOF. I love everything about this photo. Thanks for sharing!

Beautiful.

Where were you standing?

I'm loving all the Harborfront photos - I run down there all the time and always think to myself that I wish I could run with my camera, and lo and behold then I'll see you'll have posted a shot I wanted to take! Thanks for the photos!

An excellent capture, and an interesting subject

No, don't take out the foreground. All that ice leading to the ferry gives the picture a wonderful sense of distance. So does having to scroll down. And down. And down. Great shot!

I love the lines of the ice on this... I wholeheartedly disagree with the "too much foreground" comment. I think the foreground is what makes the shot.

I Love the angle - while recalling how bad our faux 'walk-through' at the old Roch. terminal (they are shooting some lame ass shoe called 'the Boarder there now...was supposed to do a blogTO thing...too boring to)... me and Tomms took some outside shots of the 'bay' - this is your ship:

Maybe not, who knows - I think mine was an ice-breaker...

At first I didn't realize this was a ship...It is so symmetrical.

Does the ice ever get to the point where the ferries can no longer run? It happens here but not very often...it is pretty rare. I'm thinking with the cold we've had this winter it might just happen.

This is a stunning and stark image. It really conveys the cold. I pulled my sweater more tightly around me while looking at this one!

Wow !
Great location and very nice perspective !

Nice shot but the long foreground messes it up, but I love all your work! thank you for all the effort you put into your work!!!

Fantastic shot. The perspective works so well and adds emphasis to that sense of isolation that comes with the cold.

Amazing pic - however, the foreground is blurry and doesn't look that good IMO.
